Treatment is based on your specific needs, but can include Solution Focused, Cognitive Behavioral, and EMDR therapies.
Starting therapy can be awkward, stressful, and overwhelming. It's scary to trust a stranger with your private thoughts, emotions, and experiences. I am here to help you face your struggles in an open, non-judgmental, safe environment. I want to help you overcome the obstacles that are keeping you from being you.

Through a strength based approach, I utilize techniques from various modalities such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement and Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR).
First of all, I want to acknowledge the effort, strength or courage it took for you to take these steps in searching for a therapist. Starting your healing journey can feel like an overwhelming task. My goal is to come alongside you in that process to make it less so. I work with people who experience symptoms of depression, anxiety, who may be feeling less connected to themselves, or are struggling in relationships. I enjoy working with my clients to help them learn to manage difficult emotions, process past trauma, and live in closer alignment with their values.

I use the evidence-based practices of Cognitive-Behavioral therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) while integrating other therapies to assist.
“The ability to find your true self is one of the most important elements to sound mental health,” thus, the option is yours to start searching. My mission is to help clients understand life is worth living and to redefine their experience while providing a safe space in doing so. I want them to perceive the therapeutic process as a comprehensive endeavor toward success. It is my motivation to guide clients on their journey of healing as they attack issues related to mood, grief, substance abuse, and maladaptive behaviors that do not serve them well.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) therapy is recommended for traumatic memories and events causing significant distress where previous attempts to overcome have failed.
Life is tough and we sometimes need help getting through it. Whether it's a "listening ear," anxious feelings, or trauma focused therapy, I can help with all three of those and more. Many clients want a safe place to express the emotions that have seemingly built up over time. After the client has expressed the situation and what he or she is seeking help for, we set some goals for our sessions. Recommendations are made to help guide our future sessions.

I am EMDR trained and approach therapy from an attachment-focused lens.
You are exhausted from trying to figure out why you can't quite find what you're looking for in life - whether that's a relationship, job, or feeling at ease within your body. It is my privilege to help you heal from the things that are preventing you from having the relationships, satisfaction, and sense of connection you desire. Through a collaborative relationship, I can help you process old trauma (with an emphasis on how it's impacting you now), better manage your anxiety, and cultivate the relationships you so deeply desire. As we build a safe partnership, you will find your courage and make the changes you're looking for.

I am certified in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART).
A therapist is like a dentist. We can avoid them for a while, and sometimes we find one we like or don't like. Eventually, though, everyone needs to see one. Therapy won't solve your problems, but it will help equip you with the tools you need to get through. We offer in-person and video sessions, and see children to adults. We have several groups available, and we accept insurance and offer a sliding scale. We believe therapy is for everyone. Contact us for a free consultation. Even if you don't end up seeing a therapist with our practice, we can help you find someone that you connect with.

I am EMDR-trained and utilize a transtheoretical approach to my practice.
I am one of a HANDFUL of Filipina American therapists based in Houston, the fourth largest and most diverse city in the nation. I am trilingual in English and the Filipino dialects: Tagalog and Cebuano. I have a unique understanding of the bicultural/immigrant experience, being an immigrant myself. I believe everyone has an innate need to feel seen and valued. This is my goal in my practice: that the person sitting in front of me knows their value and provide a safe space to process the jagged edges of life. I want to ensure that the goals clients have in therapy are met and to empower them to face the other side of my office door.

I utilize CBT, DBT, and EMDR.
I want to get to know you, wherever you'd like to start. Together, we can explore ways to increase your ability to manage and cope and find more happiness and calmness. I've got 30 years of experience helping people navigate through the impact of traumatic situations and serious grief and loss, including sexual assault, domestic violence, abusive childhoods, chronic illness, and tragic death. I understand the crushing weight of hopelessness and thoughts that things will never be better or even different. I know that things can and do change and I strongly believe that we are not simply what happened to us.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
