Great parents and great teachers struggle every day feeling like they can't help their kids figure out how to behave and survive their everyday life. They spend day after day fighting, yelling and being exhausted, and having nothing change. Their kids have dysregulated bodies that make them anxious, hyperactive, and sometimes even aggressive. My goal is to help these kids learn to calm and control their body and to help their adults to support them in doing this. I specialize in supporting kids with dysregulation disorders such as autism, anxiety, oppositional defiant disorder, sensory processing disorder, ADHD, and trauma.

I’ve been on the other side of the counseling room. I’ve sat on the couch and I’ve been misunderstood and disregarded by a therapist before. My goal in counseling is to meet each client where they are, with compassion, empathy, and when appropriate, a little bit of laughter. I genuinely believe each person that walks into my office deserves the chance to be seen. Together, we can begin to grow and create lasting change. My personal passion is helping others realize their strengths and guiding them as they navigate their way to a happier, healthier lifestyle through whatever counseling style that may be.

I have worked with a wide variety of individuals diagnosed with mild to profound Autism and co-occurring conditions including but not limited to OCD, ODD, PANDAS, Intermittent Explosive Disorders, and ADHD. I have served clients between the ages of 3 years to 36 years old. I specialize in providing supports and regulation to individuals that engage in significant behaviors that impede their ability to participate in activities that are meaningful to them.

Parenting is one of the hardest jobs out there and its made more difficult when your child is going through something like ADHD, Autism, Anxiety, ODD, or behavioral issues. We are here to help parents, kids, teens and families to over come these difficulties.

I have experience counseling children as young as 5, teens, and adults ranging from their 20s to their 50s. Whether it is assisting children in navigating life at school or empowering adults to find meaning and purpose in their lives, I am passionate about supporting my clients in their growth.

Since 2018, I have had the greatest pleasure of serving individuals in the behavioral and mental health field where I have seen them make great leaps towards recovery. My previous experiences have allowed me to aid individuals overcome major adversities. “When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves” is a quote by Victor Frankl that has guided me along my journey in the counseling field. Above all, I want to provide a welcoming and safe space with enough room for growth for each of my clients.

A challenging responsibility in life is to heal emotional wounds. Family crisis, divorce, losses, anxiety or having a child with emotional or intellectual barriers to be successful in life without finding the desired answer creates frustration and distress. Psychotherapy as an alternative isn't the easiest answer but could be insightful and resilient. Children with developmental difficulties, learning disabilities, autism or conduct disorders can benefit from a holistic approach that considers the healing of their emotional pain as resource for reaching developmental goals. My name is Dr. Jeff Selman and I am a licensed psychologist, Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), and a certified school psychologist. Counseling services focus on helping families and individuals build skills that increase healthy behaviors and foster resiliency. Symptoms and challenges are addressed using a CBT, DBT, Adlerian, and/or a client centered ‘strengths and solutions’ based approach. Emphasis in sessions include gaining awareness of negative self-talk and habits, learning tools to change behaviors, and rewriting new scripts that illuminate strengths, acceptance, and self-discipline. Sand Tray techniques and Play Therapy are additional approaches to help clients process emotions and progress in their goals.
