While working as a middle school shop teacher I saw the role of the school counselor and pursued a master's in school counseling, while working on that degree I saw the opportunity of a full time mental health counselor. I stayed in grad school and earned the second masters in Professional Counseling. I continued teaching as long as a I was able to working on my hours to become a fully licensed Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Texas. Once I realized the challenges of remaining a teacher and acquiring my hours (3000) for the full license I left teaching work in a geriatric psych hospital as a full time therapist.

You can't take it anymore! You're tired of caring for others and neglecting yourself! Not feeling yourself anymore? Feeling down, stressed, or just overwhelmed? All of us experience pain from our past, or anxiety about the future at some point in our lives. Sometimes we’re even confused about our experiences and life decisions. How we tackle life issues, however, is unique to the individual. Sometimes our conflict is temporary, while others are reoccurring and long lasting. It’s okay! Value in Therapy can help!

Hi, Me Jane. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with 35 years of experience. It is difficult to seek help. I recognize the strength and courage it takes to reach out. You can feel safe, accepted, and listened to in our sessions. This is your time to be you and say what you need to unburden yourself. Sometimes we need guidance while at other times we need someone to listen and hold space for us. It is possible that you are looking for a fresh take on your circumstances or have tried "everything" out there and are ready to give up. You may feel discouraged but together we can work on what is important to you.

Frequently, metabolic disorders and mental health challenges coexist, exacerbating each other's effects. As one aspect worsens, it can adversely affect the other. Rectifying metabolic disorders can alleviate mental health issues, and vice versa, yet adopting essential lifestyle adjustments such as dietary changes and behavioral modifications can prove challenging amidst intense emotional stress and chronic symptoms. By seamlessly combining holistic insight and conventional medical precision, integrative medicine offers an array of tools tailored to tackle intricate symptom clusters, fostering enduring well-being and health.

I initially specialized in treating PTSD, and trauma therapy continues to be one of my main passions. I have a diverse experience with a wide range of mental health/neurological disorders but more importantly, an ideal patient would be one who is open and willing to process difficult topics and memories as opposed to continuing to engage in avoidance (a short term bandage for a long term injury). I describe my style as collaborative, directive, and solution oriented, but also find power in allowing clients to process deep rooted issues in a non-judgmental way. **Please note I do not accept insurance***

The pain and confusion of grief brought on by death, loss of a relationship, death of a pet, life transitions or the cascade of losses that follow a terminal diagnosis can feel insurmountable. The world continues to move forward and you're left feeling pressured figuring out how to move quickly or quietly through these feelings of guilt, sadness, anger, or resentment. Trying to figure out how to cope and who to lean on during a time of vulnerability is overwhelming. How do I process my grief? What is my new normal going to look like without this person? Will I find meaning or relief again?
