I personally strive to create a safe, a non-judgmental space where clients can explore their thoughts and emotions. I use a client-centered holistic approach that addresses the mind, body, and spirit, while incorporating a variety of therapeutic approaches like Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Reality Therapy to help my clients reach their therapeutic goals.

I use a combination of EMDR, ACT, and DBT to help clients with profound grief and those who suffer from dissociative disorders from the lasting effects of trauma, as well as every day life struggles and changes.
Are you feeling overwhelmed by grief, struggling with the loss of a beloved pet or a human loved one, or feeling that you are losing hope because of past trauma? Maybe you are struggling with dissociation and feeling lost. I provide a compassionate and nonjudgmental space where you can explore your feelings and begin the healing process. I am passionate about working with the LGBTQ community and neurodivergent folx (no masking required)! My approach is deeply empathetic, collaborative, and tailored to your needs. Together we can help you calm your nervous system and begin to view yourself with more compassion. It is not too late.

I offer individual, couples, and family therapy formats for adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship issues, grief, or attachment trauma. **I am also trained in DBT and Self Compassion and offer 1:1 work.** Struggles we face in life can negatively influence our understanding of ourselves, others, and the world around us in ways that keep us stuck, afraid, and unhealthy. Processing these difficult experiences can allow us to break free from this influence and show up in the world in ways that align with our inherent goodness, enabling feelings of success and happiness. You deserve to feel these things and more!

Using treatments like ACT, ERP, or DBT I will help you address difficult thoughts, feelings, and experiences.
We are hardwired to seek meaning and connection. When we lose sight of our needs and values we might feel depressed, not good enough, and stuck in an unhelpful cycle. Experiences like trauma, OCD, or ADHD tend to just add fuel to the fire. As a Clinical Psychologist I provide evidence-based treatments for anxiety and depression complicated by other factors, such as trauma, neurodivergence, perfectionism, and shame. I strive to help my clients increase self-awareness, process and cope with sticky emotions, and develop the skills needed to design and live a fulfilling and meaningful life.

The modalities I most often draw from include psychodynamic psychotherapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and person-centered therapy.
I believe that therapy is a tool of self-examination that helps individuals navigate difficult life experiences and know themselves more deeply. It often takes painful experiences or emotions for someone to seek therapy, and I enjoy helping people find new pathways through which to experience a more fulfilling life. I most often work with people navigating depression, anxiety, perinatal and postpartum depression and/or anxiety, or general life stressors (such as relationship issues or a new job).

"Set the captives free" has been the initial and driving force of my practice. Trained at Baylor Psychiatry Clinic, in Houston, I have been in practice over 20 years and loved every minute of it. Described as being "no nonsense", I like getting to the point, as compassionately as possible. I'm happy to have a brief phone consult to see if we can work together.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
