I have completed Level 1 of Gottman Method Couples Therapy, am a certified Prepare/Enrich facilitator for martial and pre-marital counseling, and use the most appropriate evidence-based methods from the attachment perspective, DBT and CBT on your healing journey.
If there is a sense of hopelessness surrounding you about what has passed amidst the fear of what is yet to be; if you find yourself stuck as these challenges show up in your relationships, lingering grief, or a sense of powerlessness - know that you don't have to go through this alone. In this space, we can meet. My training has prepared me to provide tailored counseling to individuals, couples, and children navigate challenges of marriage, divorce, and illness or loss of loved ones. Along with private practice, I have worked at behavioral hospitals helping clients struggling with challenges of depression, anxiety, and trauma.

My therapeutic focus includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Holistic Therapy, and Mindfulness.
My ideal client struggles with anxiety, depression, and difficult life adjustments. I enjoy helping patients reach their full potential and helping them navigate through life, especially during difficult times.I believe in achieving high-quality work as a therapist, which means meeting an individual where they are. This looks like listening to someone, without judgment, to understand/analyze their wants and needs. This also means understanding where they are on their journey and trying to find ways in which I can assist them in reaching their goals.

An ideal client for me would be a member of the LGBTQ+ community since I am a Queer-identified therapist myself as well as a client wanting to work on overcoming past traumas or challenges. I prefer working with people who are in the teenage phase of the family life cycle all the way to the launching and young adulthood phase of the cycle as well. Helping individuals understand what patterns from our families of origin we might mindlessly be enacting and creating more preferrable interactional patterns is something else I love helping clients with in therapy.

Bad things happen to everyone. People are injured, become sick, disabled, and pass away. Relationships change and may be lost. Sometimes it seems like more than we can handle alone. We may have trouble finding others who truly understand what we are going through—our whole world has turned upside down! My passion is working with people who have experienced an illness, injury, or loss that has caused them to begin to build their lives anew. I also love to help the care partners of people who have an illness or injury, as the care partners' lives have been altered and they deserve to be supported, too.

My hope is that by utilizing a range of therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy ( CBT), Mindfulness, or Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), you’ll feel empowered to overcome obstacles or challenges while you navigate through life.
My great passion as a Health & Wellness Professional is to help you build a healthier relationship with food & your body, cultivate emotional agility to freely express yourself, & be able to communicate your needs/wants to others more effectively. While I’d love to help you improve your mental health through physical activity & balanced nutrition, I also understand that everyone’s starting point in therapy can look very different. It would be my pleasure in meeting you where you are in your journey to help build your own tool box of skills so that you can lead the life you deserve to live.

I have experience with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindful Self-Compassion, and Flash Technique.
I enjoy working with individuals, families, and couples. My clients often have a good idea of what "better" would look and feel like, so we work together to make small changes toward that vision. Sometimes, feeling better means processing difficult experiences. Sometimes, it means repairing relationships. Sometimes, feeling better involves cultivating self-compassion and quieting the critic inside. My goal is always to help my clients focus on what they know is important and offer support while they work to make change.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) Therapists

How does cognitive behavioral therapy work?

Cognitive behavioral therapy works by exploring how your thoughts affect your emotions and experiences. CBT helps you identify distortions in your thinking. For example, you may tend to jump to the worst case scenario catastrophizing or think in extremes (all-or-nothing thinking). A therapist can teach you how to push back against those thoughts to ultimately change your feelings and behavior for the better. They can also provide coping skills to better deal with stressors and challenges.

When do I know to seek treatment with cognitive behavioral therapy?

It’s reasonable to consider cognitive behavioral therapy if you struggle to manage difficult emotions or behaviors to such an extent that you are not getting the most out of life on a day-to-day basis. If you want a shorter term, concrete, skills-based approach, CBT is a great option. (By contrast, other types of therapy may devote more time to exploring your past and its effects.) The decision to seek CBT also depends on the condition you’re treating; CBT is an effective treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, and many other disorders.

How can I find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else?

To find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else, you may want to begin by discussing the person’s problem, researching cognitive behavioral therapy, and assessing whether the approach is the right fit. You could then reach out to a few cognitive behavioral therapists in this directory, explain the scenario, have a consultation with those available, and determine who could be a good match.

Why is CBT such a popular form of therapy?

CBT has become a popular form of therapy because it is effective and accessible. Robust research has demonstrated that CBT is an effective treatment for many mental health conditions. And CBT can be learned in relatively few sessions, which means that many people can engage in the process, afford it, and see results quickly. It involves learning concrete skills such as disputing unhelpful thoughts; these skills can also be taught and spread widely.
