My sessions are provided in English and Portuguese via telehealth. Most of my clients are individuals who suffer from depression, anxiety, panic, obsessions and compulsions, co-dependency, and/or relationship issues. I work with clients who value expertise and are willing to invest in their wellbeing and relationships. How important is it for you to feel better? How willing are you to make getting better a priority in your life? Therapy requires commitment and these questions may help you to make a decision whether therapy is an approach worth trying.

My practice focus is the unique experiences of Black women.
I believe that everyone has the capacity to accomplish their goals. My role is to help you uncover and understand the obstacles and trauma that are getting in the way of achieving what you desire, and then help you tap into your inner resources to succeed. With empathy and authenticity, I work alongside my clients to promote healing and discovery of their power to change. Whether you are experiencing symptoms related to anxiety, depression, grief and loss; problems with relationships, parenting, or self-esteem; or a general sense of disconnectedness – whatever it is – I recognize that therapy is self-work, and it's not easy.

It is a great honor to walk beside you on this journey. As your therapist, I accept you as you are and not as you should be. Although I believe that therapy is a self healing process , I am here to hold space for you and provide tools to assist you as you navigate your life experience.

Perhaps you find yourself here because you are ready for a change that's been a long time coming. You might be stuck in the same ways of interacting in your relationships, even if they cause pain and hinder connection. Or, you may find yourself painfully reliving your past traumas and hardships, no matter how hard you try to press on. Yes, even for you, it is possible to find a new way of living with more freedom, intimacy and connection. But, this can be hard without help along the way.

Life is challenging and continuously changing. These changes can be unexpected, unplanned and can leave one feeling stressed, worried, anxious, and depressed. As your therapist you are not alone, I can provide a supportive and empathetic environment. I will work together with you to guide you through a journey of self-exploration and discovery to achieve a deeper understanding about yourself. While at the same time recognizing your natural gifts and unique talents as an individual. I believe that life experiences shape who we are as individuals and that we are able to re-write our own story.

Female Therapists
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
