Do you ever feel like no matter how hard you try, you are unable to see yourself as more than a body? That diet culture is so deeply ingrained in our society that it feels impossible to escape? You are not alone. We live in a world that has convinced us that pursuing an unrealistic thin ideal is the key to happiness. That if we "work hard enough," that void we constantly feel, will eventually go away. That's why my goal is to help you reach a place of acceptance so that you can experience a more fulfilling life, free from diet culture and the toxicity that ensues.

Most people that choose to see me for therapy are looking for healing - to feel more connected to themselves and the people around them. I help adults to access and develop feelings of safety in their lives, break relationship patterns that are no longer working them, and to feel more aligned in their sense of self and boundaries. Through a collaborative relationship, I can help you process old trauma (with an emphasis on how it's impacting you now), better manage your anxiety, and cultivate the relationships you so deeply desire. As we build a safe partnership, you will find your courage and make the changes you're looking for.

Hi there, finding the best-fit therapist is sometimes the hardest part of getting started in therapy, but that’s why you’re here: to find a therapist you will feel supported by in your healing journey. And I may have the expertise you are looking for. Scroll down, take a look around, and get comfy; here’s a bit about me: I work with children, adolescents, young adults, and adults, and while I have a lot of clients who are in different life phases, one thing tends to ring true for each of them: they want to feel less weighted by the voice that spins in their head, break past their fears, and start living a life they love.

I have always had a passion for helping people- but it took me a while to find the field I am most passionate about. I discovered counseling as my future career when I was working as an EMT, and witnessing some of the most difficult situations and their simultaneous mental health concerns. This allowed me to have access to vast experiences with different populations, and see and appreciate humanity’s resilience and compassion. I am in the counseling field to make a difference for people- except this time I’m focusing on individual mental health.

You can find freedom to live your authentic life after restrictive religion. After experiencing high control religion you may feel anxiety, guilt, anger, and more as you navigate the confusing process of taking space away from the religion you were raised in. You want to set boundaries, and start living life on your terms, but feel afraid to speak up or experiment with what you might want for yourself. I will help you sort through the anxiety, fear, and anger so that you can break free from the confines of your restrictive religious experience and its lingering effects.

I am a Ph.D. Clinical Psychologist in the Heights for 20+ years, trained in cognitive-behavioral & psycho-dynamic approaches. If a deeper understanding of a problem is desired, a psycho-dynamic approach focuses on understanding past family and relationships and patterns allowing for self-growth. In practical issues of changing behavior and/or learning a new approach, a cognitive behavioral approach assesses desired behavior changes, obstacles and strengths to obtain goals. In both approaches, I ask questions in a safe and cooperative style that allows for new perspectives and growth. This is especially helpful in couples therapy.

Becoming a mother can be one of the most beautiful transitions in your life while also being one of the most challenging times you may ever face. No one can prepare you for what it means to be a parent. Everything from feelings of shame, guilt, and inadequacy to sleep deprivation and hormonal changes can turn this beautiful life transition into a state of isolation and loneliness. Even though there are thousands of people becoming new parents everyday, it can feel like you are completely alone, isolated even from those that love you the most.

No one deserves to suffer alone and it takes great courage to ask for help when one is struggling. I am truly honored when someone allows me to be part of their journey towards becoming their best, healthiest self. I use an integrated, strength-based approach in my therapeutic practice to help clients gain insight and feel empowered to make changes because they are worth the effort it takes to truly stretch and grow.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
