I help people who have experienced a loss. Maybe at first your friends and family were all there for you but now it feels like they have moved on and you haven’t. You don’t want to burden your loved ones with these heavy feelings but you just can’t seem to get past feeling like the loss just happened. You may also be still having flashbacks or nightmares about what happened. These feelings are overwhelming and you feel like if you stop feeling them it would be a betrayal to the person you lost. These emotions and thoughts are common and I can help. Not “get over it” or “move on” but to move through this difficult time.

My areas of specialization include- Recovering from: Trauma, abusive relationships, Grief and loss, Self-esteem/self-confidence, Single parenting, Parent-child communication, anxiety, marriage and relationships.
Do you have unresolved trauma? Are your family patterns and dynamics of the past getting in the way of you being happy? It should not be so hard to live a better life. EMDR Intensives may just be the avenue you need to get you to that place of peace. If you do not have time for weekly therapy, intensives can help heal in a matter of days not months or years.

I use a combination of talk therapy (person-centered, existential, feminist) and EMDR (eye-movement desensitization therapy, which is used to treat traumas, both big and small) to help my clients process grief and pain and move past the constant anxiety they're feeling and into a more intentional life full of self-love and compassion.
Do you feel stuck and lost in a loop of negative thoughts and self-doubt? Maybe you’re moving through life bogged down in the everyday, but some part of you knows it can be different. You remember feeling empowered, inspired, and excited about life, but you can’t figure out how to get there again. I can help you find yourself again and remember who you are under all those layers of self-doubt, grief, loss, and the needs of others. I love it when my clients re-discover their own light and feel empowered to create the life they deserve.

I work with families, couples, and individuals dealing with anxiety, grief and loss, and trauma.
You feel stuck and ready for a change. Maybe you’re tired of feeling stressed and anxious. Perhaps your loved ones have noticed your panic, irritability, or how you talk badly about yourself. You might be having a tough time concentrating or enjoying activities like you used to. Maybe you've been called a "people pleaser" and know you should stand up for yourself, but you don’t know how. And maybe, you’re terrified of rocking the boat. You're stuck in a cycle of unhelpful and unhealthy thoughts and behaviors. The things that normally take your mind off aren't working anymore. You're ready to break free and make a change.

We are born as relational beings looking for others to connect with and trust. When early relationships are unavailable or trust is broken this leads to dysfunctional ways of relating to others and getting needs met. I work with couples, families, and individuals, discovering and changing their unhealthy ways of coping with stress and communicating. I also work with Anxiety, Depression, Grief, Addiction, Codependency and Early Developmental Trauma. My desire is to walk through your journey with you providing a safe place to process and learn new healthier ways of managing your life struggles.

I have worked with individuals to cope with grief, issues related to infertility, sexual orientation, depression, anxiety, trauma, divorce, and issues related to adolescence.
I work with clients in an interactive, supportive, and solution focused approach. I believe that clients benefit from learning about their own existing strengths, as well as the different approaches which can help them achieve their goals. This applies whether I'm working with adults, couples, adolescents, sexual abuse survivors, individuals with depression, grief, anxiety, PTSD, self-harm, or addiction issues. I always try to be straightforward, honest, and down-to-earth. I emphasize that everybody sometimes experiences stress and problems in daily life, and that most of these issues can be worked through.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
