Your particular story is like no other's and must be engaged through no other lens. It has formed relational patterns and helped determine your life's path, usually with only partial awareness. Exploring your unique story with more intentionality and depth is my passion. I provide a safe and caring environment for individuals, couples and families to explore personal challenges and transform patterns that prevent them from experiencing satisfying lives and relationships. My approach is holistic and attachment-oriented, and takes into account many areas of functioning in client's lives.

I work with families, couples, and individuals dealing with anxiety, grief and loss, and trauma.
You feel stuck and ready for a change. Maybe you’re tired of feeling stressed and anxious. Perhaps your loved ones have noticed your panic, irritability, or how you talk badly about yourself. You might be having a tough time concentrating or enjoying activities like you used to. Maybe you've been called a "people pleaser" and know you should stand up for yourself, but you don’t know how. And maybe, you’re terrified of rocking the boat. You're stuck in a cycle of unhelpful and unhealthy thoughts and behaviors. The things that normally take your mind off aren't working anymore. You're ready to break free and make a change.

I treat anxiety, trauma, and grief, with a focus on attachment.
Is your past dictating your future? Do you find yourself repeating old patterns that keep you feeling stuck, preventing you from moving forward? Maybe you set impossible standards that lead to constant disappointment and self-judgment, people-please to avoid conflict, seek answers through worry and attempts at control, leaving you feeling unfulfilled and drained. How you treat and speak to yourself matters. Many of us struggle with an overly critical, judgmental, unforgiving internal dialogue but have difficulty knowing how to change it. If this resonates with you, know that you are not alone.

These common stressful experiences include isolation, choice and responsibility, perceived meaninglessness, and death or fear of death.
At the heart of my counseling approach is the conviction that everyone can heal and make changes they desire, by combining sincere intention with effective actions. When we are in session, you will have my undivided attention as I join you in clarifying and acting upon your core desires. I strive to create a space in which you feel completely safe and seen, so we may explore your unique life path together, and steer you in the most authentic and fulfilling direction. I work primarily from an existential theoretical framework, which views human suffering as deriving from experiences that cause us internal stress or confusion.

I help people who have experienced a loss. Maybe at first your friends and family were all there for you but now it feels like they have moved on and you haven’t. You don’t want to burden your loved ones with these heavy feelings but you just can’t seem to get past feeling like the loss just happened. You may also be still having flashbacks or nightmares about what happened. These feelings are overwhelming and you feel like if you stop feeling them it would be a betrayal to the person you lost. These emotions and thoughts are common and I can help. Not “get over it” or “move on” but to move through this difficult time.

My personal experience with loss has allowed me to understand a side of grief that is difficult for others to see.
Have you been wondering where your hope has gone to? Life can be turned upside down in a matter of moments and you look in the mirror and don't know who you are anymore. You feel broken and that is okay. My hope is to help you to see that feeling broken is okay and you will not feel shattered forever. I believe a shift in your thought pattern has to take place in order for change to happen. I join empathy and understanding with Cognitive and Dialectical Behavioral therapy to help you on that journey.

Since 2013, I've had the professional privilege of joining with others, like you, as they bravely face anxiety, depression, loss, relationship breakdowns, trauma, abuse, brain injury, difficult transitions, and many other life challenges.
Life is fragile and sometimes unpredictable. Unexpected or painful experiences can alter your life in profound ways. The cord of hope that connects you to your life and dreams can become strained or broken. You may feel anxious, sad, or angry. Perhaps some time has passed and you realize that time alone does not heal all wounds. Whether your wound is new or old, counseling can help. You don’t have to go through it alone. It would be my honor to join with you as you move through your struggles and experience more self-acceptance, peace, fulfillment, connection, and healing.

As a counselor I use Existential Counseling philosophy. Feelings of meaninglessness, existential isolation, freedom and death are often the result of the very nature of our existence. I believe individuals must learn to navigate paradoxes that develop naturally in all humans due to the nature of being. Humans often struggle with being authentic and yet meeting societal expectations and pressures. Thus we must learn to create new meanings for ourselves continually in order to restore a sense of self in an increasingly fast pace and complex world.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
