I prioritize compassion, acceptance, authenticity, empowerment and safety in my work as a therapist. I work from a person-centered approach that is trauma-informed and culturally sensitive. I use various theoretical orientations such as Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Gestalt, Relational-Cultural Therapy (RCT), Attachment Theory, etc. I also use a bit of CBT or CPT when it feels appropriate. I specialize in working with queer and neurodivergent adults and older teens. I also have experience working with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. I use & teach relational, communication, & mindfulness skills.
I enjoy working with teens, young adults, and Christian women who are looking to better manage their stress & mood; who are adjusting to life transitions; and who want to improve their relationships - with God and with others. Many clients come to me wanting to learn how to live in the moment, heal from past trauma, recognize unhelpful patterns, regulate emotions, develop healthier coping skills, and move forward as more resilient and joyful people.

I'm a relational therapist specializing in treating grief & loss, trauma, anxiety, depression, & parent-child relationships with adolescents & adults. Feeling stuck in a particular area of life such as your relationships, school/work, identity, or emotions? Sometimes we find ourselves repeating old habits that no longer serve us. I often work with individuals experiencing issues around shame and self-worth, who view themselves much harsher than the rest of the world. I offer room to explore these patterns with compassionate curiosity and supportive guidance for you to start trying something different – space for a new narrative.

I use a relational, intersectional feminist, trauma informed approach to build a deep therapeutic connection with clients.
Seeking a therapist is a deeply personal process that deserves celebration. It is my honor to work closely with LGBTQ clients and their loved ones. I especially enjoy working with folks who wish to understand themselves better. I often work with clients who have experienced religious, intergenerational, or sexual trauma, and emotional neglect. My ongoing goal is to create a practice routed in LGBTQ affirmation, antiracism, antifascism, and radical love for my fellow human.

Being human isn't always easy, and when life gets complicated and becomes challenging, therapy can help offer tools to navigate through a crisis while providing you a deeper exploration of yourself. Problems in relationships often come from old ways of coping that served you in the past, but now may be keeping you from feeling fulfilled and satisfied with your life. I believe our most challenging times can also be our greatest opportunity for change. Healing is possible, and therapy is a journey towards self-discovery where you get to explore the landscape of your own mind.

Relational Therapists

How does relational therapy work?

Relational therapy was developed by psychologist Jean Miller, whose ideas stressed that having strong connections with others encourages better health and well-being when compared with a lonely existence. Conversely, poor interpersonal relationships do not foster growth and learning. Relational therapy also encourages trust in others and patience with others, along with better communication and less conflict.

Is relational therapy evidence-based?

Relational therapy is not well-studied, and it may not be as effective in treating certain mental health conditions when compared with evidence-based treatments like cognitive behavioral or acceptance and commitment therapy. However, relational therapy uses techniques found in cognitive behavioral therapy as well as psychodynamic therapy, which are both well-studied with empirical research.

How long are people typically in relational therapy?

Clients may see improvement after a few weeks or months of therapy. Like cognitive behavioral therapy, relational therapy can reduce symptoms within 10 to 20 weeks, at 45 to 50 minutes once a week. But like any type of therapy, improvement depends on the person and the severity of the problem.

Does relational therapy work?

While no therapy type will work for everyone, some evidence suggests that this therapy can be effective. Relational therapy can help a person manage problematic relationships as well as the mental health conditions that accompany difficult relationships like depression or anxiety. This therapy type may offer benefits that are hard to measure but can be just as valuable—including feelings of higher self-worth or healthier connections with others.
