I conduct a private practice with a main purpose of providing an environment in which individuals feel empowered to change the quality of their lives in regards to communication, relationships, and mental health. I have had a variety of experiences with adolescents, inpatient mental health hospitals, mobile psychological evaluations, intensive inpatient and outpatient assessments, marriage & family therapy, in-home counseling, and residential treatment centers. I also provide christian based counseling where there is a need. It is my counseling goal to help provide the skills needed to achieve full body wellness.

As a former teacher and school counselor, my focus is on helping children and adolescents navigate the sometimes difficult and painful challenges they face. Childhood issues such as trauma, divorce, loss, anxiety, and behavioral concerns are just a handful of tough issues our children encounter. To help them find their voices and work through struggles, talk, play and expressive arts therapy are utilized in counseling sessions.

Being with clients of all ages through seasons of difficulty, major life changes, depression, anxiety, and stress is one of my greatest honors. Sometimes, you need an unbiased person in your life to offer a safe place to process and equip you with tools to help ease your stressors. You want tools to feel better and make sense of what is going on. I want to help provide that.

I believe in creating an environment which serves as a ‘soft place to land’ for my clients. When children are challenged, the entire family is challenged. By creating a positive environment where children feel accepted, valued, and safe, they are able to make sense of their world by expressing themselves in a way that feels natural to them. Children do not always have words to communicate their struggles and can become overwhelmed by big emotions. As a Registered Play Therapist, I strive to give voice to these challenges and support caregivers in navigating the sometimes difficult and very important job of parenting.

Anxiety, depression, and relationship issues take a toll on everyday life. They can lead to counter-productive coping strategies such as substance use (i.e., alcohol) and may even further complicate your interactions with others. While these concerns have become all too familiar in our society, the experience is uniquely personal. Symptoms vary widely from persistent stress and worry, mindless habits (i.e., endlessly scrolling the internet), trouble sleeping, lack of motivation, irritability, fatigue, and loss of interest. Fortunately, there is hope as these types of issues are treatable—change is possible.
