I am an LPC and hold a PhD in Philosophy with emphasis in Clinical Sexology and a Masters in Counseling.

During the course of therapy, my focus is to learn about who you are and where you want to go in your life’s journey. My primary goal in that process is to create a supportive and a non-judgemental environment that can provide us the space to put successes into action and aid us in embodying them. Your goals can seem daunting at first, but together we will build a foundation that empowers you to not only achieve your goals, but also to strive for whatever comes next.

Doug Sorensen is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Sexual Addiction Therapist. He began his private practice in 1989 after working several years with individuals and families at an intensive outpatient chemical dependency program. His clinical experience includes extensive work with men seeking to rebuild their lives and their relationships from the devastating consequences of childhood trauma and addiction.

I am a bilingual (English / Spanish) Mental Health Counselor. I specialize in helping people struggling with anxiety, depression, chronic stress, addiction, and other unpleasant cognitive or emotional states. Lately, I have focussed more on the somatic manifestations of anxiety and chronic stress in the body.

As a psychologist with over 30 years experience, I have particular interest in working with individuals with mood disorders, anxiety disorders, college and work stress, phase of life issues, gay/lesbian struggles, marital/divorce problems and general relationship issues. My expertise has allowed me to be highly effective in quickly understanding the needs of my patients, to help facilitate an effective treatment plan. Generally, individuals begin to feel better with progress often seen after a few visits. The length of time spent in treatment will be mutually agreed upon, based on the presenting problem and its complexity.

I have worked with adults and children to overcome depression, anxiety, early abuse and neglect issues. My special interest include assisting people in recognizing and changing long-standing ineffective patterns of behavior, and working with people who have experienced undernourished and traumatic childhoods.
