As a Professional Counselor, I meet new clients with great interest. While getting acquainted, I like to note their strong qualities/abilities as well as recognize areas that need improvement to resolve pain or discomfort. I want to explore my client's own goals and seek methods that may help him/her approach them. I am ready to use cognitive, behavioral, interpersonal, psychodynamic or supportive therapy--whichever method or combination appears to be the best approach for the particular client with his/her particular needs. Sometimes, a new way of viewing a problem area is enough to accomplish major improvement.

I counsel children, adolescents and adults who experience symptoms related to Trauma/PTSD, Depression and Anxiety that hinder their perspective on life. I am dedicated to helping clients to remove obstacles to living a well-balanced and successful life. My goals for clients include helping them to define and maximize their God given potential, while inspiring them to thrive and not strive through their everyday existence.

I am also a certified teacher and taught in the public school system for 4 years. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, oppositional defiance, anxiety, PTSD, relationship issues, addiction, LGBT, parenting problems, career challenges and ADHD.

Victoria Salazar is a compassionate, trustworthy, and kind-hearted licensed therapist who specializes in serving individuals, families, and children aged 12 and above. Born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. Her personal experience with therapy’s transformative power inspired her to help others navigate their life’s challenges and heal emotionally.

I earned a master’s degree in counseling at the University of Houston in 2003. My experience includes 30 years of working with students and parents in the educational setting, of which 14 have supported intermediate students as a school counselor. I am currently working as a therapist in private practice. As a licensed professional counselor, I aim to assist children, adolescents, and adults seeking relief and guidance with depression, anxiety, domestic violence, trauma, life transitions, conflict resolution, LGBTQ+ challenges, and more.

I have been in the field of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Counseling for over 20 years and worked with a variety of populations in all different settings. The goal while treating you is to build a solid therapeutic relationship by being empathetic, having a genuine concern for your emotional well-being and most importantly listening to you without judgment. I am an eclectic therapist which means I use a variety of therapeutic approaches based on your need; however the foundation of our therapeutic relationship is treating you with dignity, respect and being aware of your values and beliefs.

The methodology of my approach is conversation; two people in a room trying to figure things out while utilizing various perspectives, theories, and attempts. An emphasis of my time with you is always you; your goals, thoughts, emotions, and beliefs are valuable and I find exploring them in a therapeutic setting helpful.

Dorothy Is a licensed professional counselor who holds a certificate in clinical mental health counseling from Lamar University, and MEd. In school counseling from Lamar University and a bachelor of science degree in elementary interdisciplinary studies from the University of Houston.
