I am so glad you have taken the first step to being the next chapter in your life! We are living in such difficult times and I know it can be difficult to reach out and start counseling. But, don’t we all deserve a safe place to delve into our daily struggles, life events, and crises, with someone who demonstrates authenticity, acceptance, validation, and objectivity? I believe YOU hold the key to unlock your full potential to process and create meaning of complex experiences.

Don't settle for a generic drug and alcohol therapist. You deserve help that actually helps you feel happy again. (And, that's in-network with your insurance).

I am dedicated to helping my clients heal from trauma, grow in self-awareness, and find and establish their identity and value. My husband and I walked through infidelity in our relationship and I compassionately understand the devastation betrayal has on a partner, a relationship, and a family. I understand the difficult questioning that occurs after a betrayal and the excruciating work it takes to become healthy and maintain wholeness. Asking for help is often difficult, however my client-centered approach creates a safe, non-judgmental space for you to process and begin healing.

Some therapeutic tools that I commonly use include DBT, EMDR, and mindfulness techniques.
I believe that each person is the expert on themselves and their experiences, and my role is to be a supportive guide throughout the healing process. I always want our work together to be a collaborative process, so we will structure our time together around your goals. This is your space, and you get to decide how it looks. Some clients are looking to stay near the surface, and work on coping skills and solutions to daily life problems. Others want to explore further into their own past or their inner world..

My approach combines CBT and DBT techniques as well as mindfulness skills and experiential (creative activities) therapies.
As your therapist, I WONT: Try to fix you, Give you advice, Tell you what to do, Pretend I know more about you than you do, Assume what is best for you, Have all the answers, or Make the hard stuff go away. But as your therapist, I WILL: Remind you that you are NOT broken, Give you room to access your own wisdom, Support you in figuring out what to do, Recognize that you are the expert on your own life, Remember that you have the power to know what is best for you, Honor that I don't know it all, and Collaborate with you on how to make the hard stuff easier to sit with.

I walk beside adults and parents who are struggling with feeling alone, anxious, overwhelmed and overstimulated in effort to catalyze lasting mental and physical fortitude. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), an avid neurobiology nerd, an anti-inflammatory and active lifestyle enthusiast, and a passionate advocate for merging mind, body and soul in a holistic approach to therapy.  At times, it can seem as though we have tried everything, and yet nothing seems to help.  This is my very favorite part; where I get to meet you, breathe with you, and walk with you as we find hope again.

Throughout one's life, challenges arise that one may not be able to handle on their own. We all need a safe space, support, and, at times, guidance to work through those challenges. My goal is to provide that space and support to help clients navigate through life and find solutions that work for them. When working with clients, I apply a collaborative approach when addressing anxiety, trauma, substance use, depressive disorders, and things that life can throw in the mix. Together we can work through the emotional and mental battles that are keeping clients from living their best lives, one day at a time.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
