I am truly honored when chosen to be someone's therapist. This is a hard decision to make and one that is not always easy. I have had the privilege to work with individual clients ages 12 to 80 years old. I enjoy helping teen clients navigate uncharted middle and high school territories and beyond. I also really love to work with adults in transition and those who are navigating through big decisions that can create anxiety. I have worked with female clients wading through the deep waters of depression and childhood trauma. I am also looking to work with older individuals 60 and up and how to help them with grief and medical trauma.

Are you feeling irritable and angry for no reason, hate sitting with your back to the room or get triggered by some tiny little thing? Has anxiety or depression felt like it’s been through the roof lately? Does your significant other tell you that you react way out of proportion to the smallest things? If you have no patience for incompetent bosses or lazy coworkers, it may have a cause you haven't considered. Unresolved trauma can be sneaky and affect us in ways we would never expect. Whether the trauma is from your early childhood or months ago, the symptoms of trauma will not let go until you process them.

I have been very fortunate to have worked with two great trauma-based programs: Colin Ross's Trauma/Dissociation and at SAFE Alternatives.
I enjoy working with clients who have reached a place in their lives where they're looking for a better quality of life and need to address those issues that may be interfering with that goal. My goal is to walk along side you on this journey. We will work together through the ups and downs until we reach that place you've wanted to be.

I specialize in relationship recovery, spiritual recovery, addiction recovery and adult and childhood trauma recovery.
Intimacy is often impeded by an inability to know your self or to see yourself accurately. Often we loose that sense of self in relationships which then promotes agitation and depression. We then take on addictive behaviors to avoid feeling reality. Difficulties in childhood often does not equip us with the skills of boundaries which is the only thing that helps to maintain a sense of who we are while remaining connected in a relationship. I can help you develop the skills of being relational and still be you.

My specialties include the areas of depression, anxiety, and trauma-related issues, such as PTSD and dissociative disorders.
Hello! I've been a therapist in Dallas for more than twenty years, and in that time, I've helped hundreds of people overcome the obstacles that stood in the way of their happiness. These issues include depression, anxiety, grief and loss, relationship issues, substance abuse, and trauma-related issues, among others. I believe the strongest tool a therapist has is a caring, honest therapeutic relationship with the client. If you are ready to take a positive step in finding fulfillment, then I'm ready to help.

I believe one of the most important aspects of psychotherapy is to establish a safe, collaborative, and mutually respectful relationship where profound personal growth can occur. The atmosphere in my office is warm, accepting and open. My patients are insightful, creative, intelligent people who are working to attain specific goals, make difficult life transitions, or work through the internal and external struggles of previous experiences. My primary ares of interest are sexual trauma, PTSD, eating disorders, substance abuse, depression, anxiety, relational problems and grief. I also conduct formal psychological assessments when necessary.

Specialty Training: Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery/Dual Diagnosis, Depression & Anxiety, Trauma and PTSD, Sexual Compulsivity, Eating Disorders, Women's Issues and Gambling and Spending Addictions.
I believe the job of therapy is to challenge, empower and support people so the highest quality of life is possible. The term "quality of life" is often used to describe the goal for "end of life" issues. The goal can be the highest quality of life for anyone at any age. Living in the crisis of extreme emotional pain, instability, addiction or extended grief is perhaps the lowest quality of life. To some, this state may seem like "all there is" or "normal" based on their past experience. Therapy can teach a new way to live.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
