If you're looking for help, my hope is that I'm able to provide healing, empowerment, and a safe place to be heard. Most of my experience is in working with military, couples, students, and adolescents who struggle with addiction, grief, trauma, parenting, and relationships. I have a sincere passion to just "be" with people and offer support, a new perspective, and possibly even some challenges. I am also EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization, and Reprocessing) trained to work with anxiety, addiction, trauma, and PTSD.

It can happen to anyone. Life is going along just fine, and then before you realize what happened, you find yourself in a tough situation you never expected. Coping with it has been far from easy, to say the least. You're not alone! If it's a traumatic event, if it's ongoing circumstances that impact your mood and overall functioning, perhaps I can help. I have specialized training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, as well as Solutions-Focused Therapy. I use a holistic approach; considering the whole person in their environment.

I believe counseling is a dynamic process that is different for each individual and family. I view the relationship between therapist and client(s) as one of the most important elements in therapeutic success. I strive to promote wellness and healing in an accepting and peaceful environment where clients can express concerns and share thoughts, feelings, and experiences. I work with adolescents and adults with a wide range of problems such as depression, anxiety, trauma and attachment. I am a certified EMDR clinician.

Navigating the demands of life and relationships can be exhausting. There is nothing wrong with needing someone to lend an ear or show you compassion. I believe voicing your hidden struggles is often the first step to recovery. To facilitate this growth, I center genuine and empathetic connection that allows a comfortable space for healing and change.

Parenting Therapists

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
