Through ERP, ACT, and mindfulness, we can work to help you regain a sense of control over your life and manage anxiety in a completely different way.
Couples Therapy: Communication feels stressful instead of safe. Minor annoyances escalate into fights, with no resolution in sight. The friendship you once had feels distant, replaced by resentment. You’re looking for practical tools and safe conversations to reconnect and truly hear each other again. I offer an objective approach to help you reframe your dynamics and stabilize your interactions. Working together, we can build a roadmap that turns conflict into connection and replenishes your bond instead of exhausting it. I also offer premarital counseling for couples looking to build a strong foundation and relationship skills.

It has never been more imperative that we take care of our mental health and wellness. There is so much to decompress from daily, that sometimes we find ourselves overwhelmed. Sometimes you want to find a therapist that will support you, and other times you may be looking for direction and challenge. During this time of the Pandemic and ongoing political and social unrest, consider caring for yourself, first. As you grow this work into consistent practice, you will find more gratitude and mindfulness even during difficult times. I look forward to serving you.

I use my extensive training in breath work, mindfulness, and meditation to assist clients in coping with stress and connecting with their intuition.
The way we look at and think about our lives has a profound impact on the way we experience our lives. It is necessary to shift our thoughts in order to effectively relieve anxiety, depression, and our inability to move forward from past disappointments and traumatic experiences. I utilize Cognitive Therapy, EMDR, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, and Internal Family Systems. These approaches are offered within a setting of compassion and nonjudgment. I have found the integration of mental, spiritual, and physical experience important in improving psychological health and helping people connect with their own inner guidance.

Using a mindfulness approach, that is both brief and solution oriented, my work helps clients to achieve the peace and balance they need for happiness.
Although the clients I work with have diverse challenges, they all have one thing in common; the desire for wellness.

My therapeutic approach is integrative and is tailored to each client’s individual need, often built on CBT, mindfulness, and existential therapeutic approaches, and always uses a strengths-based approach, focusing on the positive qualities that a client has available to him or her.
The human mind and body is a vastly complex and amazing system, with immeasurable capacity for both pain and healing. None of us operates in a vacuum and, because of different life experiences, beliefs, environments and relationships, each of us is unique in our suffering, as well as our path to wellness.

Mindfulness-Based (MBCT) Therapists
How does mindfulness-based cognitive therapy work?
Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy originated in the work of John Kabat-Zinn of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He developed mindfulness-based stress reduction, which is a technique found in yoga and meditation. MBCT is a combination of this type of stress reduction and cognitive behavioral therapy; it essentially quiets emotional distress through mindfulness, utilizing proper breathing and meditation. These techniques aim to bring the individual into the present moment when in a state of distress.
When do I know if I need treatment with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?
If an individual’s mind is filled with emotional distress and general negativity, the person may feel trapped. A mindfulness-based cognitive therapist can help a person change their thinking patterns as well as their behavior through calm acceptance and compassion. This therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.
What should I expect from mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?
This therapy often takes place in group sessions. A therapist will work with the group as well as with each individual. Meditation and breathing exercises are core practices that aim to invite inquiry and discovery into a person’s troubled mental state. The objective is to identify and lessen negative thoughts and behaviors and move toward optimal health and productivity. The individual will see life in a more realistic way. This therapy is supportive, accepting, and warm.
Is mindfulness-based cognitive therapy effective?
Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is evidence-based and effective. One study found that people with major depressive disorder have benefitted from this type of therapy; the person accepts their distressed thoughts and also moves into healthier patterns of thinking. This therapy also aims to move an individual away from automatic negative responses. This type of therapy can bring a person lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioral habits.
