Trey specializes in working with people who have chronic illness/chronic pain, depression, anxiety, individuals, children, teens, and Christian counseling. With a background of growing up in the church, and an education in biblical studies and theology, Trey is also open to utilizing faith-based counseling to those who desire it. Some of the therapeutic approaches he uses include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), rational-emotive behavior therapy (REBT), solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT), and existential therapy. To help deal with the trials that life brings his personal counseling approach aligns with person-centered therapy.

I've been working with individuals, groups, couples, and families for over 15 years in community and private settings as well as discipleship, recovery, and teaching ministries in the local church. I train other counselors and am a licensed Supervisor. I'm certified through the Association of Biblical Counselors (ABC) and have completed post-graduate training from the Behavior Therapy Training Institute (BTTI) of the International OCD Foundation, and Inference-based CBT through the OCD Training School. I am a mixed race (black and white) clinician and feel this gives me a unique perspective to mental health. Life can be mentally, emotionally, and physically exhausting. Trauma (racial, religious, or anywhere in between), work stress, marital strife, parenting woes and the like can at times feel magnified and the weight feels heavy, but I see you. Life is full of ups and downs and mental health can keep us feeling great or wanting to crawl into a dark hole. I also attended Texas Tech Graduate School where I earned a Masters in both Counselor Education and Interdisciplinary Studies with concentration in Counseling, Educational Psychology, and Addictions. I graduated with honors and was a member of Chi Sigma Iota Honors Society while in graduate school at Texas Tech. My approach to counseling combines Solution Focused, Reality, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Gestalt theories.

I strongly believe in the power of walking alongside my clients during their healing journey throughout the course of the therapeutic process. I approach therapy by looking at clients through a holistic lens in order to create space for growth in all different areas of their lives. When a client steps into my office, my ultimate goal is for them to feel safe and cultivate more awareness than what they walked in with.
