I started Family Matters Counseling Center after I realized that a family system is one that the client creates and is not born into. From here I developed a passion to learn each unique families story to help them overcome their obstacle in maintaining balance within their family system. I help clients re-ignite their passion and hope in reaching their career and personal goals. I do this in a collaborative and gentle approach as I assist you in your journey with every step.

Starting therapy and finding the right therapist can feel overwhelming but the outcome can be incredibly awarding. The therapeutic relationship is incredibly important to me because I know how impactful it can be for clients to know that they have someone in their corner. In therapy, I show up as an authentic and accepting to help you feel safe as you navigate life and its challenges.

Most people find me fun loving and easy going, but I take my job seriously. We will spend a lot of time in counseling talking about very private things. I don't take that responsibility lightly. Everything you tell me is handled confidentially and with respect. I try very hard not to burden you with my values. Counseling sessions with me are a “no judgment zone.” My goal for counseling is to assist you in becoming whoever you really want to be.

I believe that all people have within themselves an innate instinct towards growth. People are designed to survive and connect with others, and each relationship has the capacity to be a healing relationship. Trauma can shape how we view ourselves and the world; healing begins when clients explore their inner strength and find fierce self-compassion within themselves. I strive to provide a warm and empathetic space for clients to learn new tools and discover an authentic way to live their lives with joy and peace. I also believes in the power of humor and self-love as a radical act.

I walk beside adults and parents who are struggling with feeling alone, anxious, overwhelmed and overstimulated in effort to catalyze lasting mental and physical fortitude. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), an avid neurobiology nerd, an anti-inflammatory and active lifestyle enthusiast, and a passionate advocate for merging mind, body and soul in a holistic approach to therapy.  At times, it can seem as though we have tried everything, and yet nothing seems to help.  This is my very favorite part; where I get to meet you, breathe with you, and walk with you as we find hope again.

Sometimes it seems that nothing works. You may feel angry, sad, or out of control and need help to navigate through rough times. I have been there! I was inspired to be a counselor by my own struggles with family codependency. There is hope! Through a combination of therapeutic techniques, cognitive behavioral, solution focused, reality, family systems, feminist, and humanistic therapies, I will help you identify what is holding you back. The goal is to provide you with the insights and tools you need to move past old, limiting beliefs and behaviors. I will provide dedicated, confidential listening to create a bright future.

I am passionate about helping clients cultivate a sense of meaning and vibrance in their lives. So many of us feel isolated and overwhelmed by the weight of the world. Whether you are grappling with the reality of oppression, a life transition, terminal illness, grief, trauma recovery, identity exploration, or a spiritual concern, I want to walk with you as you make sense of your relationship to yourself and the world.

I learned an invaluable lesson from one of my educators, he told me "no one has the right to minimize your feelings. To one person, failing their algebra test might be the worst day of their lives, to another it might be losing their grandfather. No matter what others may say or think, no one has the authority to tell you how you should feel." These are the words I live by and bring into every session. I lend an empathetic ear to those whose voices and feelings are neglected.

I am a Licensed Professional Counseling Associate under the supervision of Dr. Richard Bishop, LMFT-S, LPC-S. I have worked with children, adolescents, individuals, and couples using a “here and now” approach. I conduct therapy around this truth. The past has already happened and I cannot change it other than to reflect on it in order to bring change through awareness. The future has not happened yet and I have limited control. What I can control are the choices I make currently that can lead to the desired outcome. By focusing on the “here and now” we create awareness, taking control of our own life. Teamwork leads to desired goals

As humans, we are familiar with how unpredictable and unkind life can be. As scary as change can be, feeling stuck in the same place is too. Perhaps you are overwhelmed and don’t know where to start, or you find yourself judging your emotions. I enjoy meeting clients where they are, without judgment. I help clients identify and process their emotions so they are able to be present, discover personal freedom, and deeply heal. I assist clients in expanding self-awareness, so they are able to lead their own meaningful and authentic lives through closer examination, acceptance, and understanding of the choices they make.

"Learn all your theories as well as you can but put them aside when you touch the miracle of a living soul." I love this quote by Carl Jung as it describes so well my approach. I am looking forward to helping you address your concerns. I am well experienced in working with PTSD, anxiety & depression with all ages (from age 3 - 93). We will work together to address parenting or relationship issues. Some issues resolve relatively quickly & some take more time. I strive to provide a safe environment in which personal growth can happen.

ACCEPTING REFERRALS AND CLIENTS.Today's pressures are different than they used to be. Technology, social media, employment demands, corporate climbing, home, lifestyles & substances present new and different challenges. If you're struggling or stuck in some of these, let's work together to get you unstuck! Life comes at us fast, and we often find ourselves as passengers instead of drivers. I believe that successfully navigating life's challenges is driven by the choices you make and the perspectives you have.
