When our lives are disrupted by unforeseen events, it's important to have support to process through emotions, move forward, and heal. I am a bilingual, Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor and a retired Texas public school counselor and educator. My background includes working with adults, adolescents, and children in private practice, school, and facility settings. My treatment approach is client focused as I believe the therapist's function should be dependent upon the client and their specific needs.

People who seek therapy are the sanest of us all. They look around at their lives and they realize that they want something better and they have the courage to go out and get it.

As a Christian therapist, my goal is to help you uncover your true God-given potential and lead a life that is worth celebrating. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges in your life. By applying complementary therapy approaches and techniques, we will unearth long-standing behavior patterns or negative perceptions that may be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life.

As a group of psychologists, we help kids, teens, adults, and seniors who’ve lost touch with what makes them happy or what really matters to them, often feeling pretty swamped by their emotions. We assist those struggling with depression, substance abuse, anxiety, OCD, panic, and insomnia. We have a special place in our hearts for working with the LGBTQI+ community, and we're dedicated to helping military and law enforcement personnel. Together, we find ways to get our patients' lives back in balance and reconnect them with the people and activities that truly define who they are.

I have extensive experience and training supporting clients through OCD, anxiety, depression, relationships, infertility, pregnancy, postpartum, and parenting.
Hi, I'm Sarah. Maybe you feel stuck right now. Maybe things feel hard and you're just not sure what to do. Maybe you've noticed unresolved feelings, or big feelings, coming back again and again. Maybe you feel stuck in a relationship, a season in your life, or your identity. Maybe it feels like things might always feel this way. Clients that I work with are curious about their experiences. Whether it's noticing past patterns, current feelings, or experimenting with doing something different, the clients that I see often want to understand more about themselves, to show up for themselves in ways they hope to be.

Trauma can be a tricky subject to talk about. Often we minimize or compare our experiences with those of our friends who are somehow more valid. We struggle to name our trauma, but trauma includes impactful events like not having our needs met growing up or a significant break-up. Chronic trauma is stored in the body and can manifest as feeling on edge, feeling overstimulated, or people-pleasing. As a former EMT, I understand how these experiences can manifest somatically. I specialize in complex trauma and attachment wounds, and support individuals through life transitions, grief, medical trauma, chronic illness, and OCD.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
