Adulting is hard. Being a kid is hard. Being human is hard. Having access to all of the world all of the time is hard. It’s overwhelming and everyone has an opinion. And sometimes it can just become too much. Every stage of life comes with what seems like insurmountable obstacles. This day and age with the seeming constant comparison to a perfect social media life can leave one feeling impossibly more than less than. Sometimes we just need a little help. A place to sit with our reality without the judgement or the press to have it all.

Does fear run your life? Do you plan around the possibility of another panic attack? Anxiety issues steal your peace of mind and self-esteem. The good news is, you can take them back! You CAN learn to control your anxious reactions! According to NIMH, more than 90% of people with an anxiety disorder will make a good recovery if given appropriate treatment. I use a combination of relaxation and body awareness training and cognitive-behavioral interventions when teaching people to get their anxiety under control.

Life can be overwhelming, and we all need help at times. I provide a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental space where we work to resolve difficult situations and past trauma. I gather a comprehensive history to look for past issues that may be affecting your life currently. These events and experiences are processed using the coping skills you have now, and others you learn in therapy. We also look at your goals, your level of self-awareness, your perceptions, your relationships, and whether your needs, in every area of your life, are being met.

I have been providing counseling services to children, adolescents, and their families since 2010. If your child is struggling with behavior, trauma, or mood disorders, I am here to help. I have also worked with children in the educational system and have knowledge in schools and appropriate supports and accommodations. Due to the nature of teletherapy, older children and teens would benefit most from online therapy, as well as their parents/guardians.

I have worked with a variety of issues including gender transition and coming out, depression/anxiety, parenting, trauma, self-harm, difficult family dynamics, low self-esteem, suicidal ideation, anger, defiance, and peer relationships, just to name a few.
Are you ready to heal from trauma or grief, set personal boundaries, gain coping skills and improve relationships? If you answered "yes," welcome! As your therapist, we will work together to set goals to achieve healing and mental wellness. This collaboration is one of importance as healing and self-betterment are difficult to achieve on your own. Remember- healing is not linear. As we uncover your authentic-self, you will come to find peace within yourself that no one can take away from you. My goal is to empower you to discover all you are meant to be.

Helping heal from trauma is important to me.
I focus on working with adults, couples, and teens. We know that many of our challenges are often connected somehow. Problems can become entangled, which makes them really hard to manage and resolve. And when we take notice, we see how so many aspects and relationships in our lives are affected. I want to learn who you are, listen to your story, and understand what you need from this process. Gaining insight and learning effective skills can help you handle almost anything life throws at you. Getting started can seem hard, but always remember: Every wonderful journey begins with the first step.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
