Internal Family Systems helps us to get to know the parts of ourselves we feel disconnected from.
I have been a therapist for 20 years now and have had the privilege and honor to be a helper and guide to countless individuals and couples as they heal and pursue their true Self. "You are the one you have been waiting for,” you have what you need already inside of you, and it is finding the connection to the authentic self that allows us to be connected to others. If you want to find peace within yourself so that you can have peace in your relationships I can help you (and your partner). Through mindfulness and self-compassion we learn to be present with ourselves and others.

As a minority having lived around friends and family with life challenges it is important to me to share my knowledge and experiences in ways that all people can discover their potential whether it be a dream skill or new way of living.
Do you struggle with low self worth and want to find meaning and purpose in your life? Do you struggle with motivation, constant worry, feeling irritable, feeling stuck, and living on autopilot? I believe that emotional awareness, self love, and acceptance is the key to helping you find what you really want. I work with young children ages 5-12 and adults 18 and up. My approach is focused on positive regard, respect, and honesty. Having a Christian background and interest in the Arts, I do not force my beliefs and ideas on people. You can also visit my personal webpage at pathwaytalk.com

Things that I have helped these clients address are religious abuse and healing, "one in one out", health status, and family.
Everyone has their own unique story and I will work to understand yours. I work with a variety of people including individuals, couples and families from a wide variety of professions, family situations, race, age and religious affiliations. Some of the issues I have experience and success working with are sexual dysfunction, infidelity, communication issues, trauma, and mental disorders. My approach looks at the entire person and the “system” in and surrounding them. I examine elements of people’s lives like their physical well-being, emotional coping and conflict resolution skills.

I specialize in treating infidelity, post-infidelity stress, trauma, complex PTSD, PTSD, mood disorders, emotion dysregulation, borderline personality disorder, anger issues, lack of assertiveness, family dysfunction, anxiety, faith-based issues, marital sex-based issues, substance use, sex abuse, stress, domestic violence, etc.
I truly believe that while you may come in broken, by faith, you can leave healed! I approach therapy in a collaborative manner with my clients. To effectively collaborate, I have a "no walking on eggshells" policy in our therapeutic space. Hold on, Faith! What does a “no walking on eggshells” policy mean? This policy empowers my clients to present what they may think are the “icky” parts of themselves without fear of being unrighteously judged in therapy. I will work to earn your trust so have faith in me, yourself, and the process as part of your healing journey.

You’re fucking exhausted. You're lonely and believe that you don't belong. This isn't where you thought you would be at this age. You think you should’ve already figured out your relationships, your career, your family, etc. Isn’t there more to life? All you want to do is crawl into bed and pull the covers over your head. The mean voice inside keeps telling you that you aren’t good enough, that you don’t deserve to rest. “Take care of everyone else before taking care of yourself." “You have to be strong…All The Damn Time.“ You can’t say no because then they won’t like you."

As an LPC with over 16 years of experience, I have dedicated my practice to the treatment of trauma, family and couples therapy.
The idea of going to counseling can be stressful. Some believe counseling is for people who are severely disturbed or have extraordinary problems. Counseling is for everyone as we all experience stress, family issues, relationship problems, and confusion while making decisions. Everyone's problems are unique; therefore, your treatment will be to be customized to meet your treatment goals at your own pace. My commitment is to be thorough and careful but also to not prolong your treatment longer than necessary.

I am an affable person which allows others to feel comfortable around me. This characteristic has provided me the opportunity to work with people from all walks of life and who are facing challenges stemming from present circumstances or past traumatic experiences. My strong background in problematic sexual behaviors allows me the opportunity to help families in their family reunification process that follows the fragmentation caused by intrafamilial sexual abuse. My certification in EMDR, allows me the opportunity to provide individual services for juveniles and adult survivors of sexual assault.

The way I work is by using a personalized approach by using various play therapy techniques which are based on the needs and goals of the child and family.
Hi there! Have you noticed behavior changes in your child? Irritability? Moodiness? Don’t seem like themselves anymore? In fact, are behaviors escalating by becoming more explosive, argumentative, and intense? When you try helping, does your child reject and push your help away? It’s normal to hope for children to grow out of phases and in most cases they do. But usually sudden and drastic changes in mood and behavior are signs that your child is struggling to self-regulate, meaning manage emotions. It also means that may not have the adequate resources or life experience to handle it appropriately. But there is help.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
