Brenda Messer is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who specializes in working with children, adolescents, families, and adults with histories of trauma, anxiety, depression, behavioral and adjustment challenges. With a focus on self-awareness via mindfulness practices and cognitive behavioral therapy.

As a trauma psychotherapist, my goal is to help my clients get to the root of their symptoms. I use practices that have been shown to be effective in addressing trauma-related symptoms. If you feel on edge, sad, anxious, agitated or numbed, you might benefit from evidence-based practices to address these symptoms. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy as well as Internal Family Systems (IFS).

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker from Houston, Texas. My expertise include: grief and loss, anxiety, depression, adjustment disorder, coping skills and life transitions. I am also a certified nephrology social worker and I have extensive knowledge and experience working with adults diagnosed with end stage renal disease, chronic illnesses and chronic pain. I have practiced in multiple healthcare settings including home health, substance use/abuse, outpatient dialysis centers and acute hospital settings.

John Funk is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 37 years of experience. He has worked with many different groups of people, including folks experiencing homelessness, folks experiencing major mental health issues, active-duty soldiers and veteran soldiers, and folks experiencing anxiety, depression, and PTSD. In more recent years when working as a therapist, he has mostly worked with couples doing couples therapy, and primarily using attachment theory and therapy, in addition to cognitive-behavioral therapies, and a PTSD treatment called gentle reprocessing therapy.

Dr. Ramirez works collaboratively with individuals to treat a wide range of issues including depression, anxiety, trauma disorders, and obsessive compulsive disorders, phase of life issues, marital or relational difficulties, among others. She completed her training in the Bay Area of California, and obtained her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology at John F. Kennedy University in Pleasant Hill California. Dr. Ramirez relocated to El Paso to complete her doctoral training, and developed a deep appreciation for the rich culture and values of the El Paso community.
