My name is Rebeca. I am a counselor in Austin, TX that is passionate about helping others overcome challenges that life sometimes throws our way. ​ I have a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Texas Pan-American. I am fluent in English and Spanish with a strong focus on vocational rehabilitation counseling, career counseling, and academic counseling. ​

I have been working in the social work field for about six years. My experience working at an inpatient behavioral hospital has allowed me to witness when creating nonjudgmental spaces, healing begins. Most of my work has been focused working with adolescents, however I have experience working with adults.

An ideal mental health client is someone who actively engages in their own healing and growth process, demonstrating several key characteristics: motivation for treatment, commitment to recovery, improving communication skills, developing self-awareness, resilience, growth and insight, and increased personal empowerment.

I practice counseling from a trauma informed, culturally responsive, and somatically oriented lens. I believe that we experience our stressors and traumas at the intersection of our physical, cultural, and relational realities. I view each individual as the expert of their experience, including children and teens, and collaborate with individuals and families to support meaningful change. I believe that we heal best when we can attune to our emotional and somatic experience of the present moment in the context of safe relationships and work to create a secure space for processing the past and reorienting to the present and future.

Hello there! I'm Melissa and I am a first-generation, bilingual Latina from south Texas. I understand the fear and loneliness often experienced during major life transitions. I enjoy working to build resiliency in clients as they navigate these transitions such as new parenthood, moving away from home, starting college, or entering the workforce.

I am a pre-licensed student from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center where I am completing a Master's of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I am practicing under the supervision of Delia Villarreal, LPA. My passion lies in creating a safe environment free of judgment to explore your lived experiences and support you on your journey to creating a fulfilling and meaningful life.
