I provide therapy for adults with anxiety, depression, social phobia, trauma, relationship issues, sexual dysfunction, ADHD, autism, and end-of-life issues.
I specialize in working with seniors, people with dementia, and individuals with chronic illnesses/disabilities. I have extensive experience in relationship problems, sexual issues, and trauma. I believe the primary role of a therapist is to help clients regain a sense of hope. Life can be hard and talking through your issues can help. Instead of a "quick fix" approach, I'll help you figure out the causes of your problems so they don't keep popping up. I'll listen to your story you, help you discover what's getting in the way of your happiness, and support you while you work on the new you.

As a client focused therapist I will not give you advise but rather help you find your own solutions to the barriers lying in your way that's keeping you from living your best life.

Life is simultaneously amazingly beautiful and painfully terrifying. How we cope with these terrifying and difficult moments can impact how we see and enjoy the beautiful moments life has to offer. When we are faced with these difficult moments, sometimes, we turn to unhealthy ways of coping, further blocking our ability to grow. I want to help you take back the control that these challenges have taken away from you, so you can lead a more satisfying life. You have the power within to overcome these difficulties and my goal is to help you tap into your inner strength and resources.

Life is simultaneously amazingly beautiful and painfully terrifying. How we cope with these terrifying and difficult moments can impact how we see and enjoy life. Studies confirm what I know to be true: the best predictor of therapeutic success is a secure, attuned therapeutic relationship. This means I meet you with compassion and listen without judgment, assumptions, or expectations. I respect your pace and honor the need to feel safe when sharing your story. At the foundation of my work with individuals and couples is the belief that every human being has an innate ability to thrive.

ADHD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
