For women, reach out to learn more about my SACRED groups to heal as a p art of a supportive community.
In my two decades as therapist, I have been honored to witness people move through incredible challenges and sometimes transform the trajectory of their lives, Just as our bodies send healing to our physical wounds, we hold inside us all we need to be move through tremendous struggles to emerge whole. Our innate capacity to heal is in all of us. It is outside of our awareness because our minds are full of noise. I help my clients become inner explorers. I help them develop a lens of self-compassion, freedom from judgment and gentle curiosity about themselves. When we are at peace within ourselves, everything is possible.

Is stress, anxiety and depression plaguing you? Do you feel more disconnected than ever in this post-pandemic world? Have you ever been curious about what therapy with horses might be like? I'd love to offer you the experience of something different, through a felt experience of change either through in-person talk therapy or equine assisted psychotherapy (I also offer Telehealth!). Therapy can be a place to feel safe, seen and find pathways to new ways of being in the world. I hope to meet you soon!

Pain exists to make us pay attention. Trying desperately not to hurt, we compromise our integrity, our hearts and our sense of self, on some misguided mission to be invulnerable, to please, to care-take, or just to belong...Somewhere along the way, our vision of ourselves loses focus. Therapy can help create a new template for living. Research shows us that the brain can actually re-wire itself in the context of a secure relationship, developing new capacities for self-soothing, obtaining perspective, and being intimate. I believe that all suffering bears embedded gifts, if we look hard enough.

28 year old Eliza, is the mother of 3. At 8 weeks postpartum, she is feeling overwhelmed. Her 4 year old was diagnosed with autism, and doesn’t dress or eat independently. This bright child is prone to meltdown or run-off in public places, and just when it’s time to go somewhere. His aversion to food, movement and clothing are sensitivities she experiences to a lessor degree. She’s exhausted, and needs to return to work soon. She’s concerned about the leaking of urine and pressure she feels in her pelvis. Jim, her husband wants their intimacy back, but she’s not ready. She wants to restore balance and ease to her life, and her body.

Do you feel alone or hopeless? Do you or someone you know struggle with alcohol or other substances? Have you been wishing that you could go back to the early days of drinking? Are you being dishonest about how much you drink or use? Maybe you have been questioning what happened and how did I get here? When we consume alcohol or other substances we are looking for a release. Some people can find this without the damaging effects it can create on our lives. Some of us are no longer able to do this. If you are looking for greater connection and other ways to relax and find comfort, I can help.

You care so much about your child. They are your top priority. You may be at your wits end or nervous about what is going on with your child. You would do anything to see them happier and thriving in all areas of life. I've helped many families with behavioral, social, and emotional concerns. I help build coping, self esteem, and resilience skills. I believe in involving the parents and helping them learn new strategies because this will bring more lasting results for the child/teen. I finished my Bachelors in Counseling in 2000 and Graduate degree in Counseling in 2013. I have worked helping children for 19 years.

Mental health clinicians, who must be educated with masters degrees and above, do not have enough employment options that enable them to pursue private practice without having to endure the administrative nightmare that comes with it. Running a practice requires scheduling, billing and collections, marketing, websites, accounting, medical records requests, and much more. In addition, a clinician has to be mindful of HIPAA laws, ethical issues, legal issues, etc. And if they are enterprising enough to accept their client’s health insurance, there would be no time left to see actual clients. The public does not have enough affordable options for obtaining mental health services. There is a large gap between government sponsored community programs and increasingly expensive private programs that we wanted to bridge. So we decided to form a group of talented mental health clinicians and an experienced administrative staff to support them. Now the clinicians can focus on what they do best, and we are able to offer quality services to our clients using their insurance benefits!

I have witnessed the transformations that occur when embodying a he art-centered connection with clients.
Many of us are taught to disregard the messages our bodies and emotions carry, initiating a distrusting and confusing relationship with ourselves and others. My work often focuses on giving you the tools and felt experience to release trauma from your nervous system, create inner safety, connect to agency, establish healthy boundaries, and re-connect to your intuition. Together we’ll work to (re)discover your relationship with your true inner voice. Through this connection and awareness, you can learn to trust yourselves and navigate through life’s obstacles and challenges with flexibility and resilience.

Are you asking yourself, "Am I strong enough to get through this?" When life presents us with challenges that seem too difficult to bear, we often get stuck in a mental cycle that repeats, "Life isn't fair." I won't tell you otherwise, but I will help you find the strength to go on anyway. In my work with oncology, grief, trauma, and couples in conflict, I have worked with clients in unimaginable physical and emotional pain. Together, we uncover and process the emotions that cause anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, insecurity, and that sinking feeling that you may never get back to "you."

Art Therapy

How does art therapy work?

The process of making art allows people to express themselves. Art-making can take many forms, such as painting, collage, or sculpting. The therapist asks questions that the work elicits, such as how the person felt while creating their piece, or if any memories surfaced that they can discuss. The therapist will then work with the patient to process their experience, understand themselves better, and work toward change.

Does art therapy help with trauma?

Art therapy can be a valuable treatment option for those suffering from trauma. Traumatic experiences such as combat, rape, or childhood abuse can be so painful that articulating them can be too scary or painful; creating art allows people to express themselves without words, and tell their story in a different way. The physical nature of creating art can also help people feel rooted in the body, which may benefit those who feel disconnected from their body in the aftermath of trauma.

How long does art therapy last?

The duration of art therapy varies, but a common length for treatment is 10 to 15 weekly sessions. Some people may see improvement in just a few weeks, while others may choose to remain in therapy longer term. Patients should periodically discuss their goals with their therapist to make sure the two are aligned on process and progress.

What are the limitations of art therapy?

Art therapy is helpful for many people, but a limitation is that it doesn’t have as robust an evidence base as other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. The evidence on art therapy is mixed; some research demonstrates its benefits, while other research suggests that it has little impact on patients.
