EMDR, Internal Family Systems, and Accelerated Resolution Therapy have proven to be the most effective tools in eliminating the disturbing content, disturbing images and thoughts in relationship to your trauma.
Trauma is often weaved in and through the fabric of our lives. Many think of trauma as one large scale traumatic event. However, complex trauma is not always a single event. Trauma is failed attachment to our care takers, experiencing abuse/neglect, multiple losses, shattered relationships, or the inability to protect ourselves emotionally with healthy boundaries. The most disturbing part of a trauma is not only the event itself, but how we perceived the event, and the internalized negative core beliefs about ourselves that developed.

Using the Ross Trauma Model as a foundation, I rely heavily on attachment theory while incorporating elements of relational and trauma-informed cognitive behavioral therapy.
Trauma disrupts the whole person. It can leave you feeling detached from yourself and disconnected from those around you. With the extensive variety of symptoms trauma leaves in its wake, it’s also common for survivors to feel misunderstood by others. My goal is to create the space you need to begin feeling safe being you. My passion is for trauma survivors who desire to pursue a life of greater peace, genuineness, and fulfillment. I specialize in working with narcissistic abuse, emotional neglect, C PTSD, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, personality disorders, and dissociative disorders, including Dissociative Identity Disorder.

I look forward to meeting you and working together to help you gain emotional stability, boundary setting skills, feel grounded in your reality, and find relief from past trauma.
I work with adult individuals who struggle with heightened emotional responses, relationship issues, and trauma. I also work with individuals who identify as Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents and are in recovery from emotional abuse. You may feel like you're on an emotional rollercoaster or find it difficult to cope with what you feel others see as “normal” life struggles. You may also find it difficult to set boundaries, feel anxious/overwhelmed with certain relationships and struggle with guilt, shame and invalidation. If this sounds like you, we may be a good fit.

As a bilingual (Chinese) trauma therapist, I am here to help you rewrite your narrative and assist you in creating inner peace and self-compassion so you can find your path again.
Do you feel your life was hijacked by your past or haunted by awful memories? Have you experienced your fear, anxiety, depression or self-doubt like a relentless storm threatening to capsize you? You may feel lost and wonder why you fall into the same pattern. The narratives you tell yourself can have a profound impact on the way you see yourself. Maybe you are tired of the inner critic in your head who has been telling you.

We all struggle sometimes, but ongoing issues can leave us exhausted, isolated, confused, discouraged... If your days or nights are hard to get through, if you can't seem to settle down or stop overthinking, if life feels scary or you don't know what to do, if you never feel good enough or can't seem to 'get over' or 'stop doing' x, I'd love to talk with you. My experience is broad, but my practice is largely focused on anxiety & stress disorders, relational trauma, chronic & terminal illnesses, and healthy coping/decision making during life transitions.

I work with those who are healing from trauma, PTSD/C PTSD, anxiety, depression and marital intimacy issues.
Is your stress level through the roof? Do you feel exhausted, but yet you can’t sleep? Overwhelmed with worry or frustration? Are your relationships on edge? Or do you feel "stuck"? It's easy to lose your focus, your joy and your presence when you are inundated with stress and overwhelming emotion. I work with clients wanting to move beyond emotional pain from their past. By doing this, we improve relationships, increase self-esteem, and build resilience.

I address issues of sexual abuse and addiction, partners of infidelity or sex addicts trauma, substance abuse, developmental immaturity, divorce, and failure to launch young men.
Many people see therapy as a one-sided conversation, with little opportunity for interaction or getting to experience each other as real people. I can promise you that I am as real as it gets! I want to help you achieve whatever solutions and life changes you are looking for while enjoying the process as much as possible and experiencing yourself in new ways. Simply put, I don't believe therapy has to always be a painful thing. Calling a therapist can be intimidating, but I hope you will take a moment (and maybe a deep breath) to call and see how I can help.

I use the CSAT Task based model with Groups and EMDR to reprocess trauma and IFS to celebrate all the parts of you!.
Whether you can’t seem to manage your own impulses, anxiety or pain, or someone else’s choices have left you feeling stuck and in pain, it’s often hard to find a single safe person to telI. I want to be a safe place for you, where you feel it’s okay to be who you are. Together we can take a look at which ways of thinking and reacting are helping you reach your goals, and which parts of yourself may have helped you get to where you are but are now not as effective in helping you move forward. As you learn to see your whole story and learn new tools to respond in ways that line up with your true value, healing begins.

I have extensive training working with individuals who struggle with a range of anxiety symptoms, and diagnoses especially trauma. In my years of practice, I have noticed that many clients lack trust in themselves and the ability to find a positive sense of self. People just want to understand themselves and become more comfortable with how they handle daily life stressors and others. To achieve this goal individuals need support with recognizing triggers and utilizing appropriate coping skills to reduce the negative responses to those triggers.

For those who are victims of generational traumas, you can be the link that breaks the cycle.
Hi! Please call me Kat. While change can be done alone, it is often fragmented and limited to our self-awareness. I believe that the transformative power that comes from a safe, supportive, and empathic relationship can act as a fertilizer and accelerate personal and transformational growth. It is through connectedness and relationships that we can see our blind spots, discover our incongruences, and get in contact with our more authentic selves. Pursuing change in a vacuum can often leave us in a feedback loop. We may need help to redirect our focus and energy towards a more productive path.

You are stuck in an emotional hole you can't seem to get out of. You are moody, easily irritated, and annoyed. At times you are also sad, frustrated and angry. You might be going through a tough transition or simply don't know where all of these feelings are coming from. You are a perfectionist, lack boundaries, and simply exhausted with overall expectations. You are suppressing and numbing unwanted feelings, traumatic memories, and/or childhood trauma. You know that you want to feel better but don't know where to start. You are tired of feeling this way and you are ready to start feeling better.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
