As a queer Indian woman with immigrant parents, I love being able to draw from my variety of experiences to connect with others and encourage inclusivity where everyone feels encouraged to take up space.
I aspire to introduce aspects of Vedic or holistic approaches that can help fellow South Asians and other minorities feel represented, catered to, and seen. I form therapy around the cultural environments and familial structures we grew up with to heal from intergenerational trauma. I encourage discussion of identity and intersectionality to help clients gain clarity on what needs they want fulfilled. I hope to represent marginalized populations and give a voice to the voiceless, as all people deserve access to the best healthcare and mental health resources. With a rapport immersed in trust, we can uplift your authentic self!

I support queer folx as they navigate dating, boundary setting, family and relationship dynamics, and self-discovery.
Do you struggle with dating or find yourself having trouble building your ideal relationship? Do you feel as if you aren’t good enough or deserving of a romantic partner or deeper friendships? Has it been challenging for you to speak up about your needs or give feedback to others about how you feel about them and your relationship? Maybe you’re curious about your own attachment style and would like to better understand how to engage with others in healthy ways. Are you ready to feel more authentic and connected to yourself and those around you?

As a queer Black, Indigenous therapist, I specialize in queer-affirmative therapy, sex therapy, racial & sexual identity formation, minority stress, and intergenerational trauma. I collaborate with clients through a social justice-oriented, culturally responsive, and systems-informed framework while rooted in a decolonial-based approach. This typically looks like working with individual adults who may be QTBIPOC, neurodiverse, navigating systemic inequities & oppression, struggling with life transitions, or someone experiencing the heaviness and despair of human suffering that may manifest as grief, loss, depression, and/or anxiety.

Have you been comparing yourself to others and frustrated with your own trajectory? Maybe you want to be hopeful but often wonder if the problem is you. Maybe you identify as LGBTQ+ and are looking for an unapologetically affirming environment. You may even have a strained or difficult relationship with religion that is affecting your adult life. Making the decision to pursue therapy can feel overwhelming initially. Exploring challenges in life can be scary. All of your feelings are valid and you deserve an environment to explore and consider the areas that life doesn’t always grant us time to navigate.

As a queer woman, I am passionate about the LGBTQIA+ community and specialize in working with couples.
Change is an inherent part of our humanness. With every breath that we take, our bodies expand and contract - they shift. But when change happens in our lives, it can feel impossible to navigate. How do we redefine ourselves in times of chaos? How can we mend connections that are frayed? What can we hold onto? The fact that you are reading these words means that you are fiercely, bravely in search of yourself. I would be honored to accompany you, your partner, or your family as you navigate this change.

As an openly queer and neurodivergent psychologist I strive to create a space of trust, safety and resiliency for those within marginalized groups in society.
You wake up in the middle of the night, your mind swirling with thoughts of whether you'll ever be able to trust someone again – to let down those walls that have become your armor. The old ways of coping that once served you now seem to be crumbling, leaving you feeling even more adrift. Each time you tidy up a space, the weight of responsibilities feels unbearable, and you can't help but yearn for someone to care for you, to give you the break you so desperately need and deserve. If your day-to-day seems like a maze of responsibilities and obligations that leave little room for your own well-being, I understand and I can help.

I am an affirming therapist for the lesbian, bisexual, gay, transgender, and queer community (LGBTQ).
You've been struggling for some time with being all alone in the world. You constantly have nagging worries that you will never find happiness or fulfillment. None of your friends understand what you are going through. It is so difficult to believe that things will ever get better. Close partners in your life abandoned you when you needed them the most. You try to move on, but you catch yourself thinking things like, “Am I attractive?” “Why don’t I feel good enough?” "What if I spend the rest of my life alone?" "What if I really am a failure?" The truth is, you deserve to live a life free of worry and fear. You deserve to thrive.

As a Gay Man, it can be difficult to accept oneself due to internal shame and living in a heteronormative society. We learned at a young age how to protect ourselves from stigma and discrimination by numbing pain, overcompensating, misusing substances, and in some cases living a dual life. These strategies once protected us, but now negatively influence our emotions, thoughts, relationships, and view of the world. I help Gay Men who are struggling with their sexual orientation, living in or out of the closet, living with HIV, afraid to disclose their status, in relationship conflict, and more.

As an openly queer and neurodivergent counselor, I understand the importance of creating a space of trust, safety, resilience, and healing so I strive to provide that for my clients.
The weight of past trauma has profound effects on the body and mind. If your daily responsibilities and obligations feel like they are crushing you and leave little room for your own well-being, I understand. I have been there myself and walked alongside many who are navigating life’s challenges. I have seen clients that struggle with complex trauma, LGBTQ+ issues, religious abuse, depression, anxiety, self-harm, suicidal ideations, substance use, and/or dissociative disorders find relief when they have a safe space to let out the emotions that have been trapped inside of them.

LGBTQ+ Therapists

Do LGBTQ-affirmative therapists receive special training?

Yes. Many therapists who practice LGBTQ-affirmative therapy have completed specialized training, either during their degree program or as continuing education, to learn the core principles of affirmative therapy and how to best support their LGBTQ clients; some have received certifications in LGBTQ-affirmative therapy. Prospective clients should inquire as to a clinician’s background and training to ensure a good fit.

Why might I want to see an LGBTQ-affirming or LGBTQ-friendly therapist?

Queer and gender-non-conforming individuals frequently experience bias and marginalization in day-to-day life. Working with a therapist who understands these unique challenges, as well as accepts and affirms their identity, can help LGBTQ clients feel safe and supported during therapy—allowing them to better navigate their relationships, mental health, and anything else that they wish to explore during therapy. It is important to note that many therapists can be effective in their work with LGBTQ+ individuals, even in the absence of specific training or background knowledge. The most important component in therapy is the alliance between therapist and client, and this alliance can exist between individuals with very different backgrounds.

How can I find an LGBTQ-friendly therapist?

You may wish to inquire about a therapist’s expertise with your specific challenges or concerns—depression, for example, or relationship strife—as well as their past experiences treating LGBTQ+ clients. Prospective clients may also ask whether a therapist has obtained additional training and/or certification in LGBTQ-affirmative techniques.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience with LGBTQ issues?

Prospective clients should feel empowered to directly ask therapists whether they have received training or been certified in LGBTQ-affirming therapy; competent therapists will be happy to explain their educational background and preferred approach(es) to help a client find the best match for them. Clients may also wish to ask how a therapist has treated clients with their particular challenges in the past and what they expect treatment to look like.

Are all the therapists listed in the LGBTQ directory themselves members of the LGBTQ community?

While therapists may choose to disclose their sexual orientation or gender identity in their profiles, the LGBTQ directory features not only those who have shared this information but also those who assert specialized training or experience in providing support to queer individuals, couples or families.
