In addition, I have been trained in EMDR, CBT, and DBT methods.
My mission is to empower others by helping them find their voice and supporting them on their journey to find freedom through therapy. I place great value on the uniqueness of each client I serve. I understand that each one is the true expert of their own story and circumstances. I’m originally from San Antonio. Wouldn't it be amazing to be able to look back on past painful experiences and be able to acknowledge that they happened but to not have your body flooded by the memory of that experience? That is what EMDR therapy can provide for you.
All we have to be in the world is kind and brave. Really. And I believe you can do that. Have you ever felt like you were walking on eggshells in your relationship? Do you feel like no matter what you do it is wrong from your partner's perspective? You shouldn't have to feel like this in your relationship. No one should have to feel afraid of the person they love. If you have begun to feel down on yourself because of the way your partner treats you, I would love to help you grow in understanding of present dynamics and experience relief so that you can move forward with confidence.

EMDR helps to decrease the distress of these experiences, while SSP helps to cultivate a regulated nervous system that promotes calm and connection.
I specialize in supporting trauma healing. Many of my clients are in relationships - they have young children, or are thinking of having children and they want to heal from ways they have been hurt in order to be more present and loving with the people in their lives. I'm trained in EMDR, SSP, and Mindfulness. Through talk therapy we gain insight into the way our past informs our present. Through these other modalities we are able to begin to shift the beliefs we have about ourselves, and the way our nervous system responds to stress.

I am trained in evidence-based approaches including Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) a therapy method used to treat anxiety, addiction, grief and loss, and PTSD.
My clients would describe me as competent, easy to talk to and compassionate. I am passionate about creating an environment where you can feel safe and heard. Carl Rogers once said, “We think we listen, but very rarely do we listen with real understanding, true empathy. Yet listening, of this very special kind, is one of the most potent forces for change that I know.” I believe that therapeutic work is most helpful when you can sense that you are working with a therapist who genuinely cares and will listen. From that foundation, there will also be space for you to reflect and receive insight that will aid in meeting your goals.

I am certified in EMDR, have completed Level One IFS training, as well as Level Two in IFIO for working with couples.
I bet you are ready to get the root of the challenges you find yourself facing each day. You have probably tried different approaches with no luck, and you’re wanting to move toward healing so life feels calm and enjoyable. After working with me, people understand themselves in a new way, and are able to have more compassion for themselves and others, while still holding boundaries with self respect. I believe therapy is about building a trusting relationship - between us, and within yourself. In my experience, both profesional and personal, these relationships lead toward healing and wholeness.

EMDR, Internal Family Systems, and Accelerated Resolution Therapy have proven to be the most effective tools in eliminating the disturbing content, disturbing images and thoughts in relationship to your trauma.
Trauma is often weaved in and through the fabric of our lives. Many think of trauma as one large scale traumatic event. However, complex trauma is not always a single event. It could be a failed attachment to our care takers, experiencing abuse/neglect, multiple losses, shattered relationships, or the inability to protect ourselves emotionally with healthy boundaries. The most disturbing part of a trauma is not only the event itself, but how we perceived the event, and the internalized negative core beliefs about ourselves that developed.

EMDR Therapists
Who is EMDR for?
EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.
Why do people need EMDR?
People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.
What problems does EMDR treat?
First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.
What happens in EMDR therapy?
First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
