For those clients experiencing relationship problems or work-related problems, I focus on helping them acquire communication skills and conflict resolution skills to improve their interaction with others.
I am passionate about helping people who are struggling with difficult personal situations. Assisting clients to regain their confidence, supporting them through trying circumstances or helping to heal their relationships is what gives me great satisfaction. I understand cross-cultural and acculturation situations faced by immigrants and consequently, I am sensitive to the subtleties of clients’ religious, social and cultural background and needs. I work with individuals, couples and families to bring about change that will help them cope with the condition that is hampering their ability to function at an optimal level.

It's time to start a new relationship with yourself, your partner, or other important people in your life & find the connection you have been missing! I provide Couples, Individual, & Premarital Counseling.
These are often statements I hear from the clients I work with: "My partner and I constantly end up in arguments and nothing I try ever changes anything, I Just Don't Know What To Do"- (Distressed Partner) or "I never guessed this would be my life, I doubt myself constantly, and I feel so STUCK"- (No Longer Myself Individual). If one of these descriptions just described you, it sounds like you are in a pretty low space right now and see no way to make it out on your own. I am so glad you are seeking help so that you can feel more connected and confident as you discover the skills and solutions to improve your life.

I have training and experience working with adults and college students with a wide range of concerns: anxiety, depression, grief/loss, trauma, identity and relationship concerns, and life transitions, including career and parenthood.
I believe each person has unique strengths and experiences to successfully navigate life's challenges. However, sometimes, we find ourselves feeling stuck: struggling with depression or anxiety, stressed by our many roles in life, overwhelmed by loss, or holding the pieces of broken relationships, unable to find a way out on our own. My goal is to create a collaborative, culturally-sensitive and compassionate space in which I offer personally-tailored interventions for your situation while working with you to identify and utilize your own strengths to bring about positive change in your life.

I have experience working with individuals, couples, and families who want to add tools to their relationship toolbox.
Strong, healthy relationships take work; however, like steering a ship, small changes in direction can often yield big results. For example, all couples and families have disagreements and challenges. The issue is not whether there is conflict, but how you deal with conflict when it arises. Figuring out who you are together, what you value, and what and how you want to be can be a challenge, but there is immense reward in facing these questions bravely. I can help. I'm good at helping couples remember why they liked each other in the first place.

Sometimes, the turbulence of life is unavoidable, and we find ourselves in a holding pattern. What does your turbulence consist of? What keeps you strapped in your seat? Maybe, it's a broken marriage or dysfunctional relationship? Maybe, it's the loss of a loved one, depression, fear, or anxiety. Whatever the turbulence is, I want to help you set a path that leads to healing and restoration.

By attending to your relationship dynamics, family messages, and your identity and relationship goals, we will help you access your power and find a sense of safety and calmness.
Are you ready to be more vulnerable but aren’t sure where to start? Have you found yourself struggling to share honestly with those around you? Or maybe you’ve tried sharing more of yourself with others, but you aren’t sure where you belong or if others will accept you? Our families can have a big impact on how we show up in our adult relationships. Cultural messages often impact how safe we feel to be fully ourselves. Shame and guilt can hold us back from experiencing intimacy and connection with ourselves and others. Together we will help you heal from any past wounds so you can feel more aligned in the present.

You want a nurturing partner who won’t pretend to have all the answers, not buzzwords.
Even the most resilient of us can feel hopeless without adequate support, and few choices can be more significant than the care you'll choose for yourself or a loved one. But defining care and support in the information age can be mystifying. Amidst epidemics of conflict and indifference, many wonder if anyone can relate to their pain and suffering. Perhaps you’ve noticed something of your own disconnect from it all...and yourself. Whatever your challenges or problems of living, your decision to seek psychotherapy is a heroic one. I want to help you find relief and imagine new possibilities.

I specialize in helping individuals and couples navigate the uncertainty and inner turmoil that may contribute to perpetual challenges.
When you imagined your life, you may not have expected the uncertainty, the frustration, the roller coaster of emotions, the difficult decision to hold on, to let go, the need to forgive yourself or others. Know that you are by no means alone in facing the un-forseen challenges that come with or the need to seek support, as you navigate the unexpected ebb and flow of life. Whether you are an individual seeking to gain clarity and strategies, or a couple, seeking to find a healthy resolve and reconnect with your partner in a meaningful way, my goal is to support you on the journey.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
