Whether you are a trauma survivor, a family member or friend of a survivor, or a professional dealing with vicarious or personal trauma, I'm here to help.
No one gets to adulthood without living through painful experiences. You may be feeling the effects of a single traumatic incident (sexual victimization, a tragic natural disaster, or the sudden loss of a dear one), or you may be struggling with the weight of years of hurtful events. The term "trauma" seems like a buzzword these days, but for some of us, trauma has deeply influenced our lives. When we experience suffering, we can feel like it becomes our identity. But it doesn't have to be that way. Healing from trauma -- single incident or multiple events -- is possible.

This might make you feel like you’re ‘doing too much,’ even when you seem to have it all together on the outside. If this sounds familiar, it might be time to learn how to manage your emotions instead of letting them manage you—and I can help! I specialize in working with Black women and women of color aged 25-40, helping them navigate life’s challenges. I support women who struggle with managing relationships, emotional dysregulation, intellectualizing their feelings, trusting themselves, & depression, anxiety, ADHD, & trauma.

Intergenerational trauma and childhood trauma are often areas of focus for my clients.
Sometimes, we can feel lost in life, or not know which way to move forward toward growth and healing. I believe that each of us can heal, have peace and joy in our own lives. I help others connect to their own inner strengths to reach their full potential. I am passionate about helping others in their personal journeys in a safe, compassionate and non-judgmental environment. I support clients to empower themselves by listening to their own inner voice, and to live in a way that is authentic to themselves. It is an honor to support others in their process of self-discovery, growth and change.

I primarily work with issues surrounding anxiety, couples, depression, gaslighting recovery, race relations, self-esteem, stress management, and trauma.
I get it! Everything feels “off.” You can’t quite put your finger on it. It feels like if you say it out loud, you’ll seem crazy or unstable. Staying quiet when you’re struggling leaves you feeling stuck, but you don’t have to be. That’s what I’m here for. Let’s sort through your problems, thoughts, questions, and wonderings together and find our way to feeling well.

As a therapist who has experienced trauma & grief and lives with Generalized Anxiety Disorder, I continue to do the work to discover different ways to assist clients seeking healing and support in these three areas, along with other stress related issues.
You know that saying “Never judge a book by its cover”? Well, I can honestly say that the cover of my book does not match the pages! The pages in my book of life have equipped me with the experience to connect with ALL people. In my book, I’ve encountered many conflicts. I’ve been the antagonist and the protagonist and I’m just in the rising action. Because my pages are not all filled with butterflies and sunshine, I’ve had to work to find ways to help equip myself with daily coping skills. I am happy to be in a position to share my experience with others through therapy and educational opportunities.

Specialty Training: Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery/Dual Diagnosis, Depression & Anxiety, Trauma and PTSD, Sexual Compulsivity, Eating Disorders, Women's Issues and Gambling and Spending Addictions.
I believe the job of therapy is to challenge, empower and support people so the highest quality of life is possible. The term "quality of life" is often used to describe the goal for "end of life" issues. The goal can be the highest quality of life for anyone at any age. Living in the crisis of extreme emotional pain, instability, addiction or extended grief is perhaps the lowest quality of life. To some, this state may seem like "all there is" or "normal" based on their past experience. Therapy can teach a new way to live.

I counsel adult women who have suffered from trauma.
It has been an honor and a privilege to serve the Lord by coming alongside and counseling the hurting and broken. Christ and His word continue to challenge, encourage, comfort and change me. As an ambassador for Christ, I want to point others towards the God of all comfort by connecting their pain to the hope we have in our Lord that is found in scripture. I have a variety of experience in different mental health settings ranging from inpatient, residential, in-home family therapy, judicial, intensive outpatient, and outpatient treatment. I have worked locally and internationally and in the church setting.

My journey as a therapist led me to work with individuals of various backgrounds, mental health struggles, and past/current trauma.
"How can therapy help me? What can you tell me that I don’t already know?”- these are ideas that are fairly common for many people considering therapy. After all, society tells us that “emotions are yucky” and can be difficult to face- so what can therapy do for you that will actually benefit you? I believe that therapy is not about the therapist “telling you” about yourself, but is instead to explore what is holding you back from reaching your full potential.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
