My name is Tess with Therapy Central Dallas and I am accepting new clients online and in person. I love embarking on a mindful journey of self discovery with my clients. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a proud U.S. Military Veteran with a Masters of Science Degree in Counseling from the University of Houston. I have 15 years of experience working with individuals, couples and families struggling with a multitude of mental health issues as well as relationship problems, career challenges, and life transitions.

Life can be very complex, and it is no one's job to navigate it alone. Working in collaboration with you, I will help you overcome obstacles that are standing in the way of your personal growth. Many of my clients have felt "stuck" in their lives. Whether that be from: infertility diagnoses, pregnancy loss, postpartum, toxic relationships, or trauma. My goal with all clients is to empower them to set healthy boundaries, make the appropriate life changes for themselves and be direct in expressing their feelings and needs.

Oftentimes, the most basic need that people have is to feel like they're being heard. I am experienced in working with individuals who have experienced trauma and struggle w/ depression and anxiety symptoms. I have completed extensive research regarding PTSD and depression in African American men and am comfortable working with any population and gender. Clients should come to see me because I work to understand their behavior as individuals in the context of the systems we exist within, whether they be work, school, family, or community.

Strengths-based approaches value the capacity, skills, knowledge, connections, and potential in individuals. My main modality is Internal Family Systems (IFS). This is a non-pathologizing approach to treatment whether you are experiencing life transitions, relational problems, crisis situations, trauma, grieving, anxiety or depression.
