I utilize Somatic and EMDR therapy to help clients process traumatic life events and beliefs.
Relationships thrive when repairs are a common practice after communication ruptures. I help empower adults to more confidently cope with stress and grief during significant life changes. Parenting sensitive kids can be challenging, we all need support when life pushes us to our limits. Asking for help is a sign of strength and resilience, the goal of therapy is to develop more self-awareness and compassion. Everyone needs support and a safe space to express themselves authentically. Reach out for a free consultation.

I work from a somatic, bottom-up perspective.
Spiritual/Religious abuse & trauma have similar components to childhood attachment trauma, so I work with both populations. The guilt, shame, isolation, fear of abandonment, and rejection may look like codependence, relationship avoidance, anxiety, and depression. You have difficulty trusting in relationships or find yourself drawn to other emotionally unavailable people. You've lost sight of who you are. There's a root, and my goal is to help you heal that root so you can see yourself differently and connect with others from a healthier mindset, thus engaging in healthier relationships. Find your confidence, your inner self.

With a foundation in Somatic and Holistic psychotherapy.
Are you facing the challenges of overwhelming life circumstances? Having trouble managing trauma and anxiety? Often, the thinking patterns we have accumulated throughout our lives are operating below the surface and become the very things that get in the way of the life for which we long. We may not be able to change the situations that happen to us but we can change how we perceive them and how we respond. With years of experience my passion is working with individuals, children/teens and families to develop a plan to create a happy, healthy, thriving life.

I have extensive training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing), IFS/parts work, Somatic Experiencing, ART, and more.
Have you ever wished therapy was longer than a single session because you’re just scratching the surface? Invest in an EMDR+ Intensive to get a headstart while saving time and money in the long run. You don’t have the time, money, or energy to “test drive” therapists. It doesn’t have to be like this forever! Therapy is for you, the client, so I like to learn the preferences you want for how your sessions will go. This helps you feel at ease, heard, and understood from the start. (We start with Intensives at a higher rate then move to individual sessions at $200 but less frequently than if you were just starting.)

Through the work of Somatic Therapy and Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS) I help women heal from sexual and religious trauma.
You find it difficult to trust others, even those close to you. You may have intrusive memories that disrupt your daily life, replaying the event(s) over and over again. You wonder: Will I ever feel safe and whole again? Am I forever broken, unable to experience love and intimacy? You fight heartache of unfulfilled relationships and the fear of being abandoned or unloved. You're haunted by the same patterns of insecurity and self-sabotage. BUT: You’re ready to wake up each morning feeling a sense of inner peace, unburdened by the weight of shame and guilt from religious trauma. You no longer have to navigate the darkness alone!

I utilize mindfulness, EMDR, somatic exploration, compassion and connectedness to support clients in building safety, reprocessing trauma and increasing their well being.
Do you find that you have always felt different or highly sensitive? Are you anxious and overwhelmed in social situations or maybe noting that you have sensory sensitivities, or processing issues that make certain interactions challenging? This can be very alienating and exhausting to manage and can lead to self esteem issues and challenges like anxiety, depression, and increased instances of trauma. You may already have a diagnosis such as Autism, ADHD, Schizophrenia or Bipolar. In my therapy, I pull away from harmful "cure" based approaches, and instead, into approaches that nurture self-acceptance and healing.

Somatic Therapists

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
