Accepting new clients. I provide individual and family counseling to ages 5 and up. I use a solution focused and cognitive behavioral approach. I use play therapy techniques with my younger clients. I have been in the field for over 25 years. I have worked in varies settings including PHP, IOP, military family service centers, residential settings and crisis centers for domestic violence and sexual assault. I am a trained and certified provider of Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). This is an evidence based treatment for PTSD symptoms. Originally from Virginia and after moving to Texas, I taught school for 14 years in Houston ISD and at Presbyterian School in the museum district. With increasing desire to help students with emotional and social issues, I returned to the University of Houston--Clear Lake and earned my master's degree in Clinical Psychology. I completed my intensive training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy at Menninger with Shari Manning, PhD and Karyn Hall, PhD. Starting in January of 2013, I worked as a practicum student and LPC-Intern at The DBT Center of Houston.
