I work with clients across a broad spectrum of issues including grief, emotional health, navigating fat-phobia, borderline personality disorder, post traumatic stress, and neurodivergence (especially autism, ADHD, OCD, and IDD).
I work best with clients who are struggling to love and appreciate themselves, who feel alienated from the meaningful relationships in their lives, and who are living with pain from longstanding trauma. I bring a lot of my humor and compassion into our sessions. I have seen people grow and change in ways they never expected, and I see them do it through self-love, compassion, and curiosity.

Unapologetically human-That’s my motto. Each person is simply trying to navigate life's ebbs and flows as best as they can. Societal pressures and life stressors can be an immense weight to carry alone. Trauma, isolation, depression, and anxiety add additional weight that can be unbearable to manage. Viewing each individual as a whole and unique person, I believe that fostering authenticity and self-awareness is vital for healing and wellness. Imagine waking up feeling fully rested and greeting the day with wonder and curiosity. That's what I aim for: to instill a hopeful, yet realistic perspective and unearth your true self.

Our clients range from anxious, ADHD, and depressed, to children learning to live with 2 homes.
Hi! I'm Christy Graham, Founder of Acorn. Our christian therapists work with complicated families and situations, bringing in family members and other professionals to help effect change for clients. We focus on helping the systems already supporting your family be more effective. That translates into great skill and comfort working with schools, child care agencies, and courts for the benefit of my clients. Our clinicians have specific training in different modalities of trauma informed care (SSP & EMDR) and court informed treatment including reunification counseling and parent facilitation. We have assessments and online classes

It's no secret that we live in a world where finding a safe space, paired with a listening, nonjudgmental ear can be impossible to come by. Couple this absence of safety with trauma, anxiety, depression, grief and relationship challenges that impact us all, and we are left with an inability to find life satisfaction. As a counselor, my first priority maintains providing just that. My hope is that through our work together, you leave with a greater sense of direction towards fulfillment and living more authentically.

Awareness around the importance of mental health has come a long way in the last few decades. However, many people still maintain a taboo around its acceptance as a vital factor in an individual’s quality of life. I want to change that. Moving from Pakistan to the United States for my undergraduate studies has provided me with a deep understanding of working with people from diverse backgrounds, and a profound appreciation of all the cultures that make up this country. I am therefore, passionate about providing a validating space for clients from all gender, sexual, and cultural identities.

Working through relational issues and building new relationships can feel overwhelming. Oftentimes, we find ourselves in conflict with ourselves and others in the midst of not knowing or understanding how to both build and maintain relationships in ways that help us. This can contribute to our own mental health struggles, including depression, anxiety, and relational trauma responses. It’s for these reasons I focus much of my work with my clients on healthy relationship building while working on treating these struggles as we go.

Counseling allows us to gain insight, become aware of unhealthy patterns, and change our lives. While pain and difficulties are inevitable, suffering is optional. I believe that no matter whether you're struggling with life transitions, relationship concerns, anxiety, OCD, depression, or trauma, you can work through what is holding you back and move toward the life you deserve. We all can heal and grow, and therapy provides the opportunity to move toward positive change in a supportive environment.

ADHD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
