I am also EMDR trained and specialize in trauma-informed therapy.
As a licensed counselor, my hope for my clients is for them to know their value and purpose. I believe counseling is a beautiful resource for those who desire to know and care for themselves better. I strive in every counseling session to honor every client’s uniqueness and strengths, as I believe it takes a great amount of courage and vulnerability to show up to counseling. My hope is to be able to come alongside my clients in their journey and work with them to set and achieve any personal goals they have for themselves.

I am trained in EMDR which is a specialized form of treatment for trauma which operates under the belief that healing past wounds will allow us to live more fulfilling futures.
Making the decision to begin counseling can seem difficult and overwhelming. My goal is to provide a welcoming, nonjudgmental environment for us to explore things in your life that have been bothering you. I believe once you better understand yourself, it is easier to explore why you do the things you do and what to do to change this in order to live the life you want. In order to make therapy more accessible, I offer late afternoon and evening appointments.

I use EMDR, Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy, Emotional Freedom Technique (tapping), mindfulness and other somatic modalities that address both the cognitive and limbic parts of the brain.
I never thought I would be a therapist. I found this profession by going through my own personal pain and struggles. These included depression, debilitating social anxiety, general anxiety and a life changing existential crisis. Through the help of some amazing people, I found my way out and I now have a passion to help others. I believe that the most powerful therapeutic relationship is human to human. Yes, I am licensed professional, but more importantly I am another human being that has been in the shit. I will always wear this on my sleeve, as it is the sole reason that I became a counselor.

While I primarily utilize IFS Techniques, EMDR, CBT, and Mindfulness Techniques, I recognize being flexible depending on client needs is mandatory.
Are you realizing the things that have happened in your life are holding you back? It's hard to relax. Life feels more black than white. You're told you worry too much, and you know that's right, but you don't know how to stop. Often, trauma from the past can be a large factor in this. I enjoying working with clients who are hoping to "reset" their automatic responses by addressing past and recent hurtful events. I use a "bottom up" approach primarily, meaning I focus on the pain that the body and mind are still holding on to unconsciously. Together, we'll work to rewire those automatic beliefs and triggered responses.

After many years of supporting positive change, I have found that courage and hope need insight and clarity to flourish. Whether you suffer from anxiety, depression, addiction or relational challenges it helps to have a guide who will not only listen to your experience, but who can also recognize dynamics that are at play in our thoughts and feelings. I wrote a book called Choosing to Evolve - A User's Guide to Waking Up. In it, I share some of the many discoveries that clients have made in uncovering hidden scripts that had kept them stuck in repetitive cycles and frustrating limitations. Create an ecstatic life! Start today!

Are you or your child struggling with past trauma? Unresolved trauma can manifest in many ways. Often people are depressed, anxious or constantly worried. You might find that even the most mundane tasks are overwhelming. In children, this can often look like frequent tantrums, defiance or poor performance. People often try a multitude of things before seeking therapy. But often exploring these traumas in a safe, non-judgmental space can be just the thing you or your child may need.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
