I’ll help you uncover the deeper layers of what drives your anxiety or OCD, and we’ll use practical, effective approaches to reshape how you respond to these thoughts.
Pause. Breathe. Anxiety and OCD can feel like a relentless cycle, where your mind never slows down, constantly consumed by worries, doubts, and intrusive thoughts. The repetitive behaviors or mental rituals that once seemed like a way to control the chaos now only add to the exhaustion. It’s not just overwhelming—it’s isolating, making it hard to connect with others or even enjoy the things that once brought you peace. You’re not alone in feeling this way, and it’s okay to acknowledge that it’s more than you should have to carry by yourself.

After working with adolescents for the past 21 years, I have had the opportunity to work with specialties including depression, anxiety, grief and loss, trauma, addictions, mood and personality disorders, suicidal ideation, OCD and PTSD and relationship issues.
We find ourselves feeling anxious, depressed, angry, and panicky we have no idea why. Negative emotions, feelings and behaviors are generally caused by unresolved earlier experiences that are pushing you in the wrong directions. The goal of EMDR therapy is to process completely the experiences that are causing problems and store them with appropriate emotions in the brain, and to include new ones that are needed to guide you in positive ways in the future. The inappropriate emotions, beliefs, and body sensations will be discarded. Leaving you with the emotions, understanding, and perspectives that lead to healthy and useful behavior.

I believe in meeting clients where they are at emotionally and helping them and their parents reach their goals. Through a positive relationship with my client I try to help them gain insight into their desire to belong and have significance. I continually work to create a supportive environment for children in order for the child to gain insight and understanding into their unique world. With insight the child and therapist can collaborate to reduce the child's current stressors possibly leading to problematic behaviors.

Life is hard! Whether it be stressors of everyday life, family or marital issues, school or work-related problems or because of recent or past trauma/grief, life can become messy. It gets hard not only for oneself, but also for loved ones or those around us. The reality is it happens to ALL of us. Sometimes all we need is for someone to listen with compassion and without judgment. Sometimes we require resources or coping strategies to help navigate the obstacles life throws at us. No matter what it is we need, therapy is the first step. Therapy equips us with the tools that we need to face whatever hardships we have.

My journey to becoming a counselor started from a young age when I realized I felt things on a deep level... or at least cried more than the other guys! For a long time I struggled with my sensitivity, thinking less of myself for lacking the control to ignore or suppress my feelings. However, over time I found that my sensitivity allowed me to empathize with others on a unique level, and that in owning and sharing my feelings, others felt more comfortable to do the same. As a result, it is my aim to provide individuals a safe space to share their struggles and develop tools to feel confident in their ability to cope with life.

Recognized for her diagnostic acumen and efficient treatment plans, Susanne Fred tailors psychotherapy based on a thoughtful and proven process that fully assesses the individual's singular situation. Sufficient time is required to decipher symptoms, evaluate stressors and pharmacological interactions, and draw out latent experiences. In this process of discovery, you begin to understand the person and how they will react to various treatment methods. Ms. Fred understands that each person is unique and prefers to utilize the treatment method(s) best for the individual, referred to as the eclectic approach where all empirically supported treatment methods have a place.

Do you struggle with a sexual trauma? Do you have childhood trauma? Are you battling an eating disorder? Do you suffer from anxiety or depression? Are you reeling from grief or loss? Do you have problems with self-esteem and/or identity? If so, you have probably tried to conquer it yourself. You may have been told to “buck up” or “get it together.” But, try as you might, you can’t. Of course, you can’t. That would be like telling someone with a broken leg to “walk it off.” You need help. You need an understanding, empathetic, trained Christian counselor to come alongside you and help you face your issue, root out the cause

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
