Avoiding your pain hasn't worked... Will I ever be? How can I ? I'm so... Depression, anxiety, tears or fears a daily companion? Heart palpitations, racing mind, so much confusion... shame!? A constant cycle of doubt? Life seem so emotion filled & distant? I know you're looking for a safe place to vent. Someone to know and hear your real hurts. A place to begin, explore & heal... "someone who will get the real pain in me..." I am so glad you are looking for connection. I get it. I've been there. I'll go there. I'm ready to walk through painful life events w/ you while seeking truth, knowing peace and finding hope.

Each person and their story are uniquely different. I incorporate authenticity, humor, and a pragmatic approach with each client. I feel that rapport is essential to the process of therapy, and the relationship between the therapist and client is where healing begins. It is in these connections that we feel less alone and develop a sense of self. Through personal and professional experiences, I offer unique perspectives and solutions to couples, individuals, and teen girls. I am also a Certified Grief Professional.

Life is an adventure, but the road can be tough. We have trouble seeing our way through dark clouds to the light. We struggle to put one step forward when the mountain peak seems so high. We need a compass to point us north & a map to guide us to our destination. You are the expert carving your own trail, but my role, goal, & honor is to walk beside you to remind you how far you’ve come, highlight strengths to navigate the path ahead, find resources to lighten your load, empower goals to move from surviving to thriving, & recognize meaning in every moment & joy in the journey, because the best views come after the hardest climb.

We all have to go through what we need to go through, to get to where we want to be. Coping skills changes and progress as we move through situations, learning how to be better equipped for these situations can seem daunting. Working on yourself to identify new perspectives, new insights and exploring a life that can truly make you happy is where I come in. Allow yourself to process the emotions tied to so many aspects of life with laughter and warmth.

Now accepting new clients in-person and virtually! Are you feeling stagnant or feel as though you have lost a piece of yourself? Often times life circumstances can cause us to lose motivation and hope. Which may prevent us from fulfilling our life purpose. I find that bringing the unconscious into conscious awareness can be a powerful tool for healing. When we ignore the hidden parts of self, this can often lead to depression, anxiety, low self-esteem and many other self-destructive patterns. My goal is to help clients understand the root of their concerns through changing self-defeating patterns and learning to let go.

Intervention Therapists

How does an intervention work?

An intervention is a planned, structured meeting in which a person’s family or friends voice concerns about the person’s behavior and its consequences; the goal is for the person to accept treatment. In this meeting, the person’s loved ones (often with the guidance of a trained interventionist) share how the person’s behavior has harmed them and the consequences if the person refuses treatment. They collectively ask the person to accept a proposed treatment plan.

How effective are interventions?

There isn’t extensive research on the efficacy of interventions, in part because success is difficult to measure. Individuals often enter addiction treatment after an intervention, for example, but treatment itself may not work, especially if the person only begins due to external pressure from others rather than due to internal motivation to change. However, if all other attempts at helping someone have failed, an intervention may be worth exploring.

What are the limitations of interventions?

While a friend or family member’s intentions are in the right place in wanting to help a loved one through an intervention, there are significant limitations to the approach. The surprising nature of the event can make the person feel ambushed or judged. They may feel embarrassed or ashamed as a result, and relationships may be strained or broken. This can make it difficult for the individual to be receptive to the concerns of their loved ones and the interventionist.

Are there alternatives to interventions?

Rather than confronting a loved one through an intervention, an effective and less pressured approach is to create space for a caring, open, one-on-one conversation. This works best if the loved one asks open-ended questions, listens attentively to the answers, and frames their observations and statements with concern rather than judgment. More than one conversation may be needed, but change can take root over time.
