Additionally, I specialize in working alongside clients who are struggling with infertility and/or miscarriage trying to conceive.
The focus of my practice is moms with young children. I love working with women on people-pleasing and putting everyone else's needs before their own. Usually, these patterns were learned to survive in toxic relationships- but you don't need to let these old patterns run your life anymore!

I am certified in perinatal mental health; I work with women navigating motherhood, change in identity, postpartum mood disorders, fertility, and loss.
Accepting new clients! Are you having conflicts in your relationships? Does your past prevent you from living a fulling life or having secure relationships? Are you a new mom and struggling to connect with your baby, feel the societal pressure that this should be the happiest time of your life? If you answered yes, we sound like we would work well together. I am committed to providing a nurturing, emotionally focused, and holistic approach to therapy. I work with people on developing self-compassion and strength to process emotions, and to become aware of self-destructive patterns/beliefs that hinder you from living life vibrantly.

It is not a requirement for a therapist to have lived experience and certainly every experience is unique, but that “I see you” in perinatal focused therapy truly hits differently when your therapist has walked through those dark places of pregnancy, postpartum, and parenting too.
I hope to partner with you! I will offer clinical expertise in perinatal issues, trauma, and attachment. I lean into my own lived perinatal experiences within the client-therapist dynamic. What I’ve found matters most is finding someone to walk alongside you. We are wired for connection, and despite what the movies portray the fertility, pregnancy and/or postpartum experience to look like, it can be a time where you feel cut off from others and yourself in unexpected ways. Previous pregnancy loss and miscarriage can also impact an experience we’ve longed for.

I am trained and certified in perinatal mental health through the CCPMH.
If you are a tired & overstimulated mama, you have come to the right place! Motherhood is the toughest job, and moms are often not given the recognition for all they do. I want you to know that I see you! As a mom myself, I know how challenging it can be. Whether you just need support as a mom, or you are experiencing more intense symptoms (i.e: postpartum depression, anxiety, OCD, or rage) I am here to support you through that journey. As a mom that experienced perinatal depression, I know first hand how scary and isolating the experience can feel. The fear that can overwhelm you and how hard it can be to share how you're feeling.

I have a strong passion for helping those going through a shift in religious/spiritual beliefs, pregnant and postpartum women, and trauma survivors.
Have you recently experienced a shift in your religious/spiritual beliefs? Are you struggling to understand what your purpose is, what your values are, and where to go from here? I am a former member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (aka the LDS/Mormon church). I have first-hand knowledge and experience with how difficult of a journey it can be to have your religious/spiritual beliefs change. Figuring out who you are-and what you now believe in-can be a painful, difficult journey, but you do not have to do it by yourself. I will be there to help guide you every step of the way.

I join with clients to move forward from traumatic experiences, better manage anxiety and depression, cope with new medical diagnoses or chronic illness. I support those going through family transitions, such as new parents, single parents, and relationship changes. I also work with those experiencing existential, religious, or spiritual questions.

We often hear, “Tell your family how you feel” or “Cut off your family, they’re toxic”? For many, these suggestions can feel overwhelming, especially when family dynamics are complicated. Communicating boundaries can be especially challenging in a cultural context where family ties run deep. How do you even tell your family what boundaries are? Let’s work together to figure out how you can fill your own cup before filling everyone else’s. The goal is not to do something you aren’t comfortable doing, but to learn how to interact with them without having to sacrifice your own emotional needs. You can be the generational change, today!

Pregnancy, Prenatal, Postpartum Therapists

What are the most effective ways to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns?

The most effective way to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns is by finding a therapist who has prior experience helping other patients overcome the challenge being faced. For example, a marriage and family therapist may have experience helping couples adjust to their new relationship dynamic. An anxiety specialist may have experience helping with phobias or illness anxiety related to the child’s health. A depression specialist may have experience treating postpartum depression.

When should I seek treatment for prenatal or postpartum concerns?

Pregnancy and the postpartum period involve intense physical and mental changes; a degree of upset and instability is normal. However, if these changes impair daily functioning, it may be time to seek help. This distinction is pertinent for postpartum depression: A period of teariness, irritability, and distress is difficult but normal in the one to two weeks after childbirth (sometimes called the “baby blues.”) But if feelings of sadness and hopelessness persist beyond that period, the person should seek treatment.

How do I manage worries during pregnancy or the postnatal period?

A therapist can help patients develop the tools they need to manage anxieties during or after pregnancy. Cognitive behavioral therapy can help people identify and reframe harmful patterns of thought, and change their behaviors. Other techniques and skills can allow people to develop acceptance, psychological flexibility, self-compassion, communication skills, and more.

Are there specific medications for postpartum depression?

In 2019, the FDA approved the first medication designed to treat postpartum depression. The medication is called brexanolone and is delivered intravenously by a medical professional over the course of a few days. However, typical antidepressants, which are more accessible, can also treat postpartum depression. The disorder is often best treated through a combination of medication and therapy.
