Welcome to Thriving Heart Therapy! I specialize in working with children, teens and young adults. I have a client-centered approach employing compassion, warmth and collaboration. If you or your child are struggling with navigating the hills of life, having an experienced, competent therapist is the first step! For young children and teens we will use creativity to identify goals and strategies in a safe, nonjudgmental space. For very young ones (3-6), a play therapy approach is used. I also enjoy helping Southeast Asian- American families with the challenges that come with acculturation.

Therapy is a collaborative effort. I am present to accompany, listen, and reflect. I work with a broad range of individuals. With over two decades as a school counselor, I particularly enjoy working with children and adolescents and their parents. I work effectively with clients who are going through a divorce, the death of a significant person, chronic family illness, job changes, domestic violence, or abuse. Clients can expect focused attention, quiet acceptance and honest feedback in a private space where they can clear their thoughts and feelings, sort through fears and pain, and redirect their lives.

I assist clients in re-connecting to their authentic selves and engaging with the life they are pursuing. I believe that genuine interactions and feeling understood allows people the opportunity to rediscover their own value and strength. This can assist people in accomplishing their unique goals as individuals and in relationships. I am experienced in working with children, adolescents and adults with depression, anxiety, trauma, substance abuse, and behavioral struggles.

As a United States Army retired veteran with over 20 years of service, I also have extensive experience in working with military populations. Based on my 25 years of experience, I usually recommend a holistic and objective assessment of the problems as part of the solution. These assessments include understanding, first and foremost, the needs of the individual. These can include anxiety, depression, ADHD, peer issues, family problems, stress, and many other things.
