Therapy will include different components for each person I work with and the tools I most often utilize are: EMDR therapy, ACT, and CBT.
Have you experienced trauma in your life? Are you continuing to live with the symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, or grief? Or are you a man who is wishing to better understand yourself or your relationships? I believe it is important to understand the goals of each individual and customize therapy to those desired outcomes. Therapy is a collaborative process in which both client and therapist are active participants, working together to reach the goals of the client. I believe it is crucial in this work to create treatment plans that identify where clients are now, where they want to be, and how we plan to get there.

I'm trained in EMDR, Brainspotting, CRM, DBT, ACT and CBT.
If this has come your way, there is a part of you that recognizes it is time for a change. Whether that change is seeking clarity in some areas of your life or maybe it is wanting to work through complex emotions. It could possibly be working through a traumatic experience, challenging negative thinking patterns, or maybe it is learning new techniques to cope with difficult situations? Perhaps it is focused on personal growth? I am here to create a space that allows that process to naturally unfold. I will encourage your natural capacity towards health, while also removing the blocks, obstacles and painful patterns of suffering

I hope you will take the chance and cont act me even though it can be scary to reach out for help, and you may be confused on which way to go.
My ideal client would be where you find yourself trying to hold it together, and you may not look for help until a situation has gotten worse and its almost a crisis. That situation will significantly affect your life, and you will hit a breaking point. This might be self-esteem, anxiety, depression, adjusting to life changes, codependency, grief, health issues, or just feeling stuck. It's hard to ask for help but here you are, and what you thought might work is not working any more. You would find yourself in my office feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, confused but feeling like you had taken the first step to finding HOPE.

I use therapeutic play with younger kids, creative and cognitive approaches with older children and teens, pragmatic-experiential therapy (PEC-T) with couples, and ACT with adults.
Are you wishing your child or your spouse came with an instruction manual? Family relationships are how children and adults come to understand themselves and the world and is what all of us most want to get right. So, when children struggle, parents struggle. And when couple falter, the kids feel it, too. My goal in counseling is to help partners, parents and kids build on the love and strengths they already have, learning new ways to inter act, communicate, and solve problems. My experience and philosophy both tell me that kids and adults do well when they can. And when we feel better, we all do better.

Anxiety, depression, and relationship strain are all signs of change trying to happen. Often fear holds us back from challenging ourselves and our relationships. What we need is security, loving acceptance, and healthy curiosity. You may fear that you are stuck, that your partner will never change to meet your needs, or perhaps you are predestined to being unhappy or alone. I help people create relationships where they are comfortable enough to grow. It's through authentic relationships that we find the strength to dream big. Together we can find deep and meaningful connection and insight, find joy in our tears, trust, and grow.

I enjoy helping individual adult clients navigate life challenges such as anxiety, relationship issues, self acceptance, managing dysfunctional thoughts and behaviors, life skills, adjusting to life changes, and those seeking overall self exploration/improvement.
I maintain the highest respect for my clients and honor the f act that they choose to share their life challenges with me. I am caring and compassionate about helping others. My approach to therapy is collaborative and nonjudgmental with you as the guide to your change. My belief is that individuals carry out life the best way they know how. Sometimes an individual's coping skills may have become maladaptive or no longer function. I believe that change occurs when one can practice self acceptance and make connections between their current and/or past patterns of thinking, their beliefs about themselves, their emotions, and behaviors.

It's okay to not be okay. It happens to the best of us. The important thing is not to stay there. I like to provide a space where clients feel comfortable processing difficult emotions so they can leave the session feeling a greater sense of resilience, confidence, and happiness. I believe that starting with a strength-based and relational approach and tailoring the sessions to your needs is important to building rapport and trust in the session. I encourage people to be themselves and move towards personal awareness and acceptance.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists

How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?

The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?

Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?

A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
