I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing ( EMDR) which is specifically used to treat the traumatized brain.
Attention all struggling adults, couples, and families-- YOU are my speciality! All of us come from a family and if that family was unhealthy, you may likely experience turbulence in your relationships if old family wounds have been left to fester. Let's check in... how would you describe your relationships right now?... Disconnected? Lost? Chaotic? Would you like to describe them as Warm, Safe, and Supportive? I can help you and your loved ones work towards achieving the emotional safety that every human needs to feel deeply safe and satisfied in our relationships.

What if I told you those feelings didn't just "pop up" out of nowhere, but have been building your whole life deep inside your body & mind? I have experience in helping people just like you discover how that feeling can relate back to something you didn't even think of from your past, using evidenced-based counseling techniques such as EMDR and many others!.
You can feel the tingly, anxious energy in your body and hear the non-stop, racing thoughts in your mind. All of it is screaming to come out but you're paralyzed with indecision and fear. It's like that opossum meme, just a constant "AHHH". You're stuck deep in the hole of your own mind with no escape in sight. And yet, even with the constant screaming, you somehow still feel empty and alone. Or maybe you just feel different from those around you. Like everyone got the memo on how to "live life right" but you. It all feels pointless and annoying... but you still want to know why people think life is worth living.

I am also certified in Restoration Therapy Level 1 and trained in EMDR.
Experiences can shape who we believe ourselves to be without us even recognizing the impact of it all, often skewing our perceptions of our true self. Our situations and relationships can also leave us feeling hurt, disappointed, afraid, angry, confused, out of control, unmotivated, and so much more. I understand how difficult and uncomfortable it is to feel conflicting emotions simultaneously. I absolutely enjoy working with people of all walks of life to help build mindfulness, a deeper sense of self and clarity and peace amid whatever issues you may be facing.

Let's create the healthy changes you desire with EMDR.
You're really going through it. You've been stuck in a vicious loop of anxiety, low self esteem, stress, bad relationships, & trauma and PTSD. You can't sleep because your mind is on overdrive, yet your body is exhausted from holding awful tension. You've been unhappy and overwhelmed for too long. People take advantage of your big heart, and it's really not fair. You've struggled with boundaries because duh - we all want to be liked. Codependency feels right when things are good yet devastating when things are bad. Honestly, your power has been taken from you. I know it seems like things will never get better, but I got you.

Additional approaches include DBT, EMDR, and art-based therapy.
Do you understand how a wound heals? Think about it. First, the pain needs to be acknowledged. Next, it needs to be tended to and stabilized. Then, the work of healing from within can begin. I believe in the significance of this understanding because, no matter what pains life may offer, we all possess an innate capacity to acknowledge, grow, and inspire change in our lives. We also need someone who is on our side, willing and committed to providing the conditions needed to feel safe and comfortable to express, explore, and heal from our struggles. Only then can we learn to lean into change.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
