My name is Alexa Nava, Licensed Professional Counselor and currently undergoing training and supervision to become a Registered Play Therapist. I have worked with children in multiple settings and with different backgrounds, including behavior problems, ADHD, anxiety, grief and loss, relationship problems, school issues, and trauma.

My typical counseling approach, and that of my colleagues at Homestead Hope Counseling Services, is anchored firmly and unapologetically in the Christian world-view. We do so with a clear, unwavering theistic paradigm that acknowledges God's sovereignty in all things, as He is intimately interested in, and responsive to, each person and all they experience. Therefore, unless otherwise directed by the client, our approach will inherently involve the use of biblical revelation and the principles found therein, when ever appropriate and applicable. The Christ centered world view is paramount to my approach to healing.

Children engage in counseling by interacting with the therapist and toys in a special setting. I team with parents and have parent consults regularly.

Sometimes it takes reaching the point of desperation to take this leap into new and unknown territory. Many clients find me when they believe they have tried everything, nothing seems to have worked, and they are ready to give up. Reva Sheppard is a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Licensed Vocational Nurse, and Chaplain. She graduated from Texas Wesleyan University's Master of Arts in Professional Counseling program. Reva has special training for treating Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) using Eye-Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). Reva also trained in London, England with the experts in "Solution Focus Therapy". Reva keeps abreast of the latest research on the brain and weaves this evidence-based research into her therapy practice. She has been exposed to different cultures within the US, and appreciates their unique strengths.
