Life is a journey and everyone's trial and tribulations are different. In life, it is inevitable that change occurs and that can be an overwhelming venture to embark on alone. I can be a tool and a resource for you during your time of need. I am passionate about helping others; it is a calling in my life. As Elisabeth Kubler-Ross stated, "Beautiful people do not just happen." Ross's statement has always sparked a fire within me, as I know from personal and professional experience that strength comes from within and growth comes from pain, sometimes we just need a little help.

Sometimes struggle, worry, and stress aren’t met with joy, comfort and reward. For some, struggle is the reward and they are lost without it. Some struggle through life sacrificing their own needs and lay in bed drained at night. Some justify themselves by saying things like, “that’s life” or “it is what it is”. At Meliora Pathway Therapy, I believe each individual has the ability to develop self-efficacy and thrive when they are viewed and treated as a whole being. My hope is that in building your self-efficacy and self-trust, in combination with my therapeutic techniques, you will feel more connected with yourself and others.

Life can be extremely difficult to navigate at times, especially when going through major life transitions. These things can greatly impact our wellbeing, especially if we do not have the proper tools to work through them. It can seem impossible to deal with these life stressors and escape from the overwhelming feelings that accompany them.

Hi! I am a bilingual and bicultural psychotherapist that sees this profession more as a calling than a job. As a creative arts therapist, I use talk, art, music, play, and sand tray.
It would be nice to say that we could go through life without he art ache or struggle, but unfortunately no one is immune to challenges. So what do we do when life becomes overwhelming? How do we handle intense emotions? How do we create meaningful relationships in the face of conflict? As a therapist, I have worked for 25 years helping people find ways to cope with life's difficulties, make and maintain positive relationships, learn to understand their emotional reactions, and find ways to clarify their goals so that they may create a life that feels worth living.

Along with traditional talk therapy, I also offer a variety of modalities including games, art, sand tray, and music.
It’s hard to be vulnerable. Especially with someone you don’t know. I work hard to establish a therapeutic relationship built on trust. I provide a holistic approach exploring all parts of a person’s past and current circumstances so that the process can help in giving insight for healing and growth.

Art Therapy

How does art therapy work?

The process of making art allows people to express themselves. Art-making can take many forms, such as painting, collage, or sculpting. The therapist asks questions that the work elicits, such as how the person felt while creating their piece, or if any memories surfaced that they can discuss. The therapist will then work with the patient to process their experience, understand themselves better, and work toward change.

Does art therapy help with trauma?

Art therapy can be a valuable treatment option for those suffering from trauma. Traumatic experiences such as combat, rape, or childhood abuse can be so painful that articulating them can be too scary or painful; creating art allows people to express themselves without words, and tell their story in a different way. The physical nature of creating art can also help people feel rooted in the body, which may benefit those who feel disconnected from their body in the aftermath of trauma.

How long does art therapy last?

The duration of art therapy varies, but a common length for treatment is 10 to 15 weekly sessions. Some people may see improvement in just a few weeks, while others may choose to remain in therapy longer term. Patients should periodically discuss their goals with their therapist to make sure the two are aligned on process and progress.

What are the limitations of art therapy?

Art therapy is helpful for many people, but a limitation is that it doesn’t have as robust an evidence base as other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. The evidence on art therapy is mixed; some research demonstrates its benefits, while other research suggests that it has little impact on patients.
