I have a special place in her heart for teens and young adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, trauma, eating disorders, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). My desire is to foster a safe environment where individuals can comfortably and freely share their stories and explore different avenues toward healing and achieving personal goals. I understand the gravity of seeking counseling and how overwhelming it can be, so the therapeutic relationship and comfort of my clients is top priority. My goal is to empower and support clients throughout their journey and show them that they are loved, important, and not alone.

Relating to people in an authentic, psychological way is my favorite pastime, and lucky for me it’s also my job! I’m an eclectic therapist who is committed to delivering the best ‘You’ based therapy we can develop together, utilizing our strengths, as well as theories and techniques along the way that support the changes you desire. I work from an LGBTQ+ Affirmative lens which helps all clients to strengthen and affirm their true Self. I embrace a person-centered and solutions focused philosophy, and rely on concepts from cognitive behavioral therapy, depth psychology, sociology, self-compassion and resiliency work.

I often get asked, “What’s a good reason to seek counseling?” Or “Why do people go to counseling?” And the short answer is, “For lots of reasons.” If you’re feeling stuck, have experiences you’re wanting to sort through with someone, wanting to re-learn how to have healthy relationships with others or yourself, have experienced significant grief, trauma, or impacting experiences, or simply want to better understand what has shaped your life and desire to live a more integrated and full life, then I’d say come check it out. Emailing me is the best way to get a hold of me.

I view persons as made up of emotions, thoughts, relationships, biology, and our spiritual selves. Consequently, I first help you stabilize by making necessary changes in behavior. Medical or neurological contributions and possible nutritional deficiencies are examined. I address any distorted thinking that is contributing to your emotional pain. If systems in your life (family, work, school) are a factor, they are also addressed. Finally, we work with the larger questions of existence (spiritual issues, issues of purpose/ meaning), which are all vital to mental health. All areas are dealt with from a solid grounding in the science.

Do you constantly feel like you’re on the outside looking in? Is your past keeping you from connecting with the people around you? Maybe it even pulls you away from the ones you care most about. You might not even remember a time things didn’t feel this way but one thing is for sure: you’re ready for some relief. You’ve made the brave decision to understand who you are and how your past has shaped you so you can live the life you want. Even though it’s scary, you’ve decided to heal and I’m ready to go on that journey with you.

Have you been feeling like everyone else seems to be handling life and stress better than you? Life is just plain hard sometimes, and often through no fault of our own. I have lived with a disability myself for over 25 years and I understand how challenging life can be at times. Maybe for you it is anxiety/worry that keeps you up at night, or maybe it's a feeling of hopelessness or helplessness because life hasn't turned out how you thought it might have. I know you have what it takes to overcome life's challenges, and I would love to walk along side you on your path to resilience.

Life can be challenging and at some point, those “challenges” can be a bit more than we know how to tackle on our own. Whether you are simply seeking a healthier lifestyle, focusing on managing relationships, or needing support to get through a life-altering crisis or traumatic event, therapy can help. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, self-esteem, bi-polar disorder, grief or any other issue, there is hope. You may feel hesitant at first to seek assistance, but once you do, you will feel more confident knowing you are taking the beginning steps to a better life and more improved you.

Thoughts, feelings and experiences can sometimes be so difficult to sift through alone! Together, we can develop a safe and nurturing space to begin exploring the intricacies of yourself and the world around you. My strength based perspective focuses on person- in- environment, taking into consideration the many facets of human exposure and environmental influences that formulate a person’s life. I have come to see that a person’s greatest power to change comes mostly from their own internal resources of reflection, motivation and realization. My main objective is to be a caring companion to this healing process.

You've taken the courageous first step of looking for support. You never thought you'd end up here... feeling overwhelmed, emotional, anxious, and exhausted. You're not sure who you are anymore, and you don't feel like you can push through, ignore, or compartmentalize these feelings any longer. Maybe it started recently after a birth, a fertility struggle, a loss, relationship change, trauma, or life transition. Maybe it started much earlier in life. Either way, this territory feels difficult for you, and you're ready to give yourself what you find so much easier to give to others... HELP.
