I draw from my training in psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and person-centered therapy, amongst others.
Seeking out help can be hard. But it’s a brave first step in working with issues that hold us back on our journey of healing and self discovery. I work with clients that find themselves feeling stuck or dissatisfied in various aspects of their lives, be it relationships, family dynamics, or careers. I also specialize in adolescents (and their families) who struggle with self worth and discovering who they are in the midst of a challenging stage of life. I believe in the importance of understanding how our past experiences and family dynamics shape who we are as unique individuals.

I am trained in multiple clinical modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and psychodynamic therapy.
It shouldn't take a year to get comfortable being in therapy. It doesn't have to be weird and no need to be scared. I like to keep it easy. I primarily work with Men ages 20-55. If you want to improve relationships, confidence, and self-regulation, I am here to help. I know it may feel uncomfortable to address these needs, but just getting started is the biggest step. Working to help men feel more capable and aware is my passion. As a man, I GET it. I offer to be a therapist who can listen, support, and explore your pains, struggles, and parts unseen. I will always be here on your worst days and excited about your best.

I completed a 2-year post-doctoral fellowship at the Menninger Clinic in Topeka, KS ( psychodynamic theoretical orientation).
I work primarily with adults who are having trouble negotiating difficult life stages. I treat both short-term, acute problems and more pervasive, long-standing problems. My years of training, first in CBT, and later in psychodynamic and psychoanalytic approaches allow me to use both in my practice. The client and I decide on treatment approaches based on his or her strengths and preferences.

As a practitioner, I strive to create a safe space for you to share your struggles and offer support through evidence-based techniques. Together, we will explore painful patterns, heal your experiences, and look toward a more alive future.

No two people are alike, so I draw from over 25 years of training and experience as a Clinical Psychologist to help my client's address the problems that brought them in to see me and have a better life. Typically, I rely upon cognitive, psychodynamic, interpersonal, family systems or behavioral approaches, but I utilize whatever works to help my clients get the core of their problems and resolve them. I work with adults, couples, young adults and adolescents, and I accept many insurance plans and private pay. When you're ready to change and have your life work call me.

I practice a variety of interventions: psychodynamic relational work, gestalt therapy, cognitive-behavioral tools, EMDR, and more.
I'm so glad you're considering counseling. It means that, at a deep level, you know you deserve better and are capable of more. You may be troubled by persistent negative thoughts and feelings, dissatisfied with certain important relationships, or frustrated that the choices you've made are no longer working for you. Either way, I applaud you for taking this step. Through psychotherapy, we will explore one of the most important subjects in your life - yourself. And we will journey together towards a future that reflects your deepest values and goals.

I specialize in working with young adults and adults who have experienced trauma and/or struggle with mood, anxiety, substance use, or personality disorders that hinder their functioning and/or relationships. Together, we will work to understand what is keeping you stuck or preventing you from making progress and we will identify areas in which you would like to see change. While my approach is primarily psychodynamic, I incorporate attachment theory, DBT/CBT skills, mentalizing, and family systems theory depending on my clients’ needs and presenting problems.

My work is informed by the following approaches: attachment theory, psychodynamic and supportive psychotherapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy.
I believe that the quality of our mind shapes the quality of our life. You can regain the freedom to choose how you feel and respond to challenges and difficulties while nurturing richer and happier relationships. My experience and training revolve around four major areas: anxiety, depression, trauma, and cancer. I know how to address your psychological distress with empathy and support, harnessing your strengths to master new coping skills. I view therapy as a collaborative effort and continually seek out feedback as to how treatment is progressing.

My main theoretical orientation is psychodynamic therapy, which allows to make long-lasting changes and tap into patient's unrealized potential while staying in a caring, supportive relationship with a therapist.
The ability to love, work, and play lies at the heart of human happiness. With trauma, unresolved conflicts, chronic stress or difficult relationships, this ability is often impeded or diminished. I help my patients regain their strength, discover their true selves, and form authentic connections with their loved ones, resulting in a fulfilling and productive life. My clinical interests include anxiety, depression, trauma, dissociation, addiction, personality disorders (particularly borderline and narcissistic), and difficulties relating to others.

I am trained in a wide variety of therapeutic approaches such as psychodynamic, emotion-focused, and interpersonal process.
I help ambitious women gain clarity and empowerment through their mental health struggles. I work with the woman dealing with relationship issues, anxiety, trauma, and body image dissatisfaction. The truth is, I’m more like you than you can imagine. I know life can be hard. But that’s where courage comes in to attend therapy.

My preferred therapy modalities are Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioral, and Solution Focused Therapy.
Do you have a history of trauma and are currently struggling with symptoms of anxiety and depression? If your answer is "Yes," it can be challenging to function adequately in the different areas of your life, whether it is life as a student, as a professional, or parts of your personal life. In working with individuals throughout my career, I have heard that therapy could be daunting to consider for many. However, I want to reassure you that therapy can benefit you at any stage in your life. I specialize in working with individuals with a history of trauma experiencing symptoms of anxiety and depression.

Feeling truly seen is one of the most powerful experiences we can have as humans. This is especially true when you’re facing hopelessness, self-criticism, overwhelm, painful memories, or a struggle with food and body image, which can feel incredibly isolating and relentless. Therapy offers a refuge where you can finally connect with your authentic self. My approach is warm, open-minded, and rooted in curiosity and care. I'm here to walk alongside you on your path to more profound, meaningful, and lasting healing that moves beyond a superficial, band-aid approach.

Psychodynamic Therapists

Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?

Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?

Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?

Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?

Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
