I take an eclectic approach to counseling for those from all walks of life. I am committed to providing safe, honest, and compassionate counseling in order to help you gain insight into your experiences and create a path for deeper healing. Understanding that every person is unique, my approach involves creating treatment that is specifically tailored to meet your individual needs. I work with ages 12 through adulthood. I can address issues such as anxiety, grief, trauma, depression, self-esteem, self-harm, adjustments and changes, life transitions, and many other experiences that may have an impact on a person's mental health.

I work with a variety of clients with differing ages and cultural and environmental backgrounds. My clients range from ages 12 years old and up. My first priority is meeting the client where they are, mentally and emotionally, and ensuring they feel safe and judgement-free.

Sometimes life gets too hard to take and you feel alone. Maybe you feel alone in dealing with your increasing depression and anxiety, or that of your loved one. Maybe you feel alone in parenting a complicated teenager. Maybe things are so overwhelming that unhealthy habits, such as substance abuse or self-harming thoughts, have taken over your life. You want to feel heard and understood, so that you can figure out how to make it better, and get the tools to help you or your loved one get to a healthy mental and emotional state.

I have a passion for helping clients who struggle with unwanted negative moods such as anxiety, anger, depression, sadness…etc. I believe there is relief to be experienced from the struggles we face in life whether those struggles be fleeting or span decades.

PTSD and trauma resolution (using ART and EMDR), Addiction recovery, as well as couples therapy are among my specialties. I work 12-7 pm and weekends. I worked for 10+ years as a therapist in a highly respected residential treatment center for adolescents with addiction as well as other mental health issues. My experience also includes working with people with extreme stress, depression and anxiety. I have over 25 years of experience as a helper to include a career as a high school science teacher and school counselor. I returned to school to earn my PhD from Texas A&M-Commerce University to become a therapist.

As a Professional Counselor, I meet new clients with great interest. While getting acquainted, I like to note their strong qualities/abilities as well as recognize areas that need improvement to resolve pain or discomfort. I want to explore my client's own goals and seek methods that may help him/her approach them. I am ready to use cognitive, behavioral, interpersonal, psychodynamic or supportive therapy--whichever method or combination appears to be the best approach for the particular client with his/her particular needs. Sometimes, a new way of viewing a problem area is enough to accomplish major improvement.
