Anxiety, depression, and relationship strain are all signs of change trying to happen. Often fear holds us back from challenging ourselves and our relationships. What we need is security, loving acceptance, and healthy curiosity. You may fear that you are stuck, that your partner will never change to meet your needs, or perhaps you are predestined to being unhappy or alone. I help people create relationships where they are comfortable enough to grow. It's through authentic relationships that we find the strength to dream big. Together we can find deep and meaningful connection and insight, find joy in our tears, trust, and grow.

Then drawing on elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, ACT, Existential and Adlerian Psychodynamic Therapy we develop a better understanding of yourself.
It’s no easy decision to move toward change, it takes courage and a willingness to self-reflect. Congratulations on taking the first step in building a richer and more fulfilling life. Therapy can foster skills to cope with personal difficulties or help heal wounds from our past. It can empower you to see your life journey in a more meaningful way, developing insight into your choices and relationships along with cultivating self-awareness to better manage hardships down the road. You are the driver in our time together and we move at the pace you’re comfortable with.

I use an integrative approach where I combine evidence-based approaches ( CBT, ACT, MI) while also focusing on root causes that may be contributing to your current concerns.
I know this can be a scary and overwhelming process. I offer therapy for those who are navigating life transitions, difficulties in personal relationships, identity issues, depression, grief and loss, and women’s issues (self-image, infertility, postpartum, new mothers). I work with people who want to grow, change, and feel happier but feel lost or stuck in how to do so. I value working with people from diverse cultural, ethnic and sexual backgrounds. I provide culturally sensitive therapy and provide a supportive and safe environment for all to share their story.

I specialize in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, which focuses on reducing the unhelpful influence of thoughts/emotions and aligning your actions with what you value most in life.
Difficulties with family, friendships or romantic relationships, echoes of wounds from childhood, loneliness, unwanted behaviors, grief, or career troubles may be weighing you down. Out of control cycles of thoughts and emotions could be causing you suffering, hindering your ability to pursue goals, or making it harder to find contentment, fulfillment, and peace. You might feel lost and unsure of what you really want. If you're facing these or other struggles that are preventing you from living your best life, I'd be honored to help you find a path forward that is authentic to who you are at your core and who you seek to become.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists

How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?

The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?

Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?

A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
