The heart of your struggle is most likely relationship- with yourself or with others. If your struggle is within yourself (anxiety, depression) or with others, (parent/child, partner), I will work along side you to help you identify thoughts, feelings and behaviors that are not working for you and to replace them with healthier patterns. With over 20 years as a counselor, I have experience successfully working with children, adolescents and adults. I offer the choice of an indoor or outdoor space both which provide a peaceful, natural environment to heal.

“I don’t like to think that the only people that have problems come to therapy because when we say that people have problems that means that there is something wrong with them. I don’t think there is anything wrong with the people that come to counseling, and I don’t think there is anything wrong with the clients I see. I do believe that talking to a genuine professional can help you look at things in a different way in hopes to gain insight into yourself – to me that is invaluable.” – Gerardo Blanco

Struggling to find joy and balance in your relationships and daily life? As a Christian counselor, I support teens, couples, and families who are facing feelings of anxiety, depression, and dissatisfaction. Imagine breaking free from the cycle of negativity and finding a harmonious balance between work, personal life, and family, while still having time for the things you love. It’s painful to realize we’re not living the life we desire, one filled with joy and meaningful connections. Together, we can silence the voices of doubt and overcome the feelings of being stuck while working towards a life that you find meaningful.

As a Certified Sex Therapist, I have a strong passion for things related to intimacy & sex, & those who have experienced trauma. Many who struggle with sexual issues have encountered things in life such as sexual, physical, or emotional abuse. Traumas such as these often lead to problems within the relationship, or sometimes even addiction; which can often times be sex or porn addiction. Working through the targeted trauma can be effective in dealing with relationship and addiction issues. As a clinician, I understand this is a difficult and emotional process, and I aim to have a professional and supportive rapport with each client.

I consider it an honor and privilege to bear witness to your therapeutic process. I understand that therapy can be one of the most vulnerable times in your life. Even though you may feel frightened and unsure, allow me to rest your mind at ease as I facilitate your healing journey. No matter the issue that you face, I believe in the restorative power of a safe, non-judgmental space individualized to your particular needs. You deserve to be supported and cared for, and to know that you don't have to walk your path alone.

People often reach out to me when they are struggling to find fulfillment in everyday life, or when they experience constant worrying that doesn't ever seem to subside. Life experiences have often lead them to this point, and traditional office-based therapies have not rendered the results they are hoping for.

My experience and training in the past 24 years have led me to focus on the areas of Trauma, Anxiety, and Autism. I enjoy working with all ages, from kids to young singles and couples and extending to aging clients. I can work with persons experiencing chronic illness and pain. For families, I can work with adoption issues, blended families, and domestic violence. I love setting up groups with those who will benefit from them. The added appeal from group involvement is the decrease in cost and the additional therapeutic connection this affords.

Every person’s life demonstrates the significance and creativity of God. Finding purpose in life with all its joys and trials leads down paths we might not expect, but, in the end, lead to a deeper significance. The understanding of the trial may not be evident at the moment, but with courage and hope, one uncovers healing and freedom. My own journey has led me to Rock Hill Counseling as an LMFT-A. As a wife, mother, small group leader, and years of experience working with children, adolescents, couples, and families, I have a passion for working with others who desire to embark on a journey of restoration, healing, and hope.

You're not sure when it started, or why, but something feels off. You feel the pressure building as you try to balance the things that take your time and energy in life. You want to feel lively, humorous, joyful, motivated, confident, and light, but it doesn't feel available to you. Maybe you've learned to approach life with grit and determination, appearing solid and self-sufficient on the outside, but feeling unfulfilled, unsupported, and disconnected in the inside. Well, all of that sounds hard, and I'm SO proud for you to take time for yourself to see if things can be different and better for you.

Alcoholism, drug abuse, problematic sexual behaviors, pornography addiction, gambling etc... are all common manifestations of a similar illness. Rarely, if ever, does this disease exist on its own. You can usually find a genetic connection to other family members who have struggled with some form of this illness. I truly believe that if you are struggling with an addiction, it is NOT your fault. There is a different biological/neurological reaction that happens to you that doesn't happen to most people. Having said that, it is still your responsibility to treat it. Your recovery can begin by talking to someone who has been there.

Are you or a loved one struggling to live a fulfilled life? Is it difficult to navigate the stress of everyday routines, or are your intrusive thoughts holding you back? These feelings can be exhausting, and it is easy to lose your sense of self. Unfortunately, most people learn to avoid the things that cause anxiety and stress, and they fall into a pattern of unhelpful behavior. This can lead to distancing yourself from meaningful relationships and feelings of shame and unhappiness.

How can I find a therapist in Aubrey?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
