My name is Jamie Shields. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor as well as a Licensed Chemical Dependence Counselor. My experience with children, teens and adults spans over two decades. I currently specialize in trauma, substance abuse, grief/loss, anxiety, mood disorders. Additionally, I am a Certified EMDR Therapist . I provide an eclectic approach to counseling with my patients by utilizing components of EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and/or Solution Focused Therapy for trauma, anxiety, substance abuse, mood disorders and other obstacles presented during counseling sessions.

Whether you need to address past stressors or recent life events, I am here to help. It can be hard to manage it all even when it feels like life shouldn't be this challenging. I am here to join you in the hopes of rediscovering your inner strengths. I will be patient and tolerant of uncertainty, so that you can focus on feeling empowered.

As an LPC, I enjoy working with individuals struggling with a variety of challenges that may impede their daily well-being. I enjoy helping clients uncover past traumas that are hindering their progress. I won't listen and sit expressionless, only nodding occasionally during our time together. I am warm but more direct then that. I care deeply about people I work with. I seek to offer real help. I currently work in a private practice setting in Kingwood specializing in working with clients who want to improve their marital relationship by addressing underlying issues causing dissatisfaction or conflict. I also specialize in walking alongside clients who are experiencing the myriad of emotions that follow a significant loss, including a spouse, child, or divorce. I approach clients with the utmost support, care, and concern for their overall health and wellness. Dr. Sneed specializes in identifying and treating perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. She has earned certification from Postpartum Support International in this area of treatment. Dr. Sneed also specializes in race-related stress, work-life balance issues of professional women, and Christian counseling.
